  1. I think it is Laminated for windscreens and Toughened for the rest.
  2. I know it is no help, but it is not good practice working on your own under a truck. Gearboxes are heavy awkward lumps. What will be your escape route if something goes wrong, is there no one who could go with you just to pass spanners and just be there incase you have a problem.
  3. Go for it. When clearing a concrete pump pipe a piece of foam is used and pushed through with water. You could blow it through first, then push a piece of foam through with a piece of wire wool in front, using either fluid or air pressure power to clear the internal scale into a bucket.
  4. As with everything on this rebuild a wise decision logically arrived at. It may be a disapointment for the team not to reach their self imposed deadline, but for me watching it has been a fantastic journey. I applaud your efforts.
  5. I have to work under my Freelander so need it up off the ground. This is the first time It has failed to get my home and it has 169000 miles on the clock.
  6. I remember an advert years ago for a Big Ben Sandmaster with a pipe trailer, working in the desert on oil production.
  7. Was the Torque converter lock up disenabled on some trucks for some operational reason? This would have the effect of losing a gear, or rather the 6 intermediate gear ranges. When the vehicle moved up to 6th the T/C would not lock up so losing direct drive, or as you would say 7th
  8. As long as you are getting all 6 gears and the torque converter lock up is working thats the lot. There was some discussion a few years ago on this site about gear changing. If you go to Drops 8x6 auto box.
  9. Problem could be caused by a fouling/sticking fuel pump element scroll. Try taking the side off if you can get to it and soaking internals with penetrating fluid.
  10. Have you got a local body builder to try for pyramid tread?
  11. This as the Great man said, is only the end of the beginning. This illustrious team may have another project waiting in the wings but this vehicle and team now have a future to be reported on together. I have looked forward to each enstallment with eager antisipation, it is not only about the truck its about the people as well, behind the hands on workers there must be a moral support team we have to thank them as well for our entertainment. I hope that the team take time and enjoy the vehicle before taking on anything else. There are also Bedford, Dodge, Dennis, Militant, Simitar, to name just a few of the other restorations going on in various places around the world. Also bikes and cars so plenty of work to see the progress on, and the different ways of overcoming tin worm problems
  12. A census no. for a dump truck in another picture Z1308693 is the best my eyes can do.
  13. Good luck with the project.
  14. If goodwill counts for anything it will need the throttle closing and ignition retarding to stop overreving
  15. Sometimes when I was trimming out the holds on bulk Alumina ships both tween deckers and open holds, I would come accross several tons stacked in one corner. It would be for the crew and dockers to move it and clean it off once I had got as much cleaned away as I could with the wheeled loader. Car carriers were the worst to clean with the rows of cleats they oftain damaged the unloading grab. First time I worked with a self discharger they said we will be putting obout 1200 tonnes an hour of granite on to the quay. I said oh yes in a patronising kind of way and then had to apologise as as this mountain grew in front of me. I think the most I had worked with up to that point was 600 tph stocking out at a power station.
  16. Some O rings 5331 99 826 5586 and a mounting platform DMC 9cvt NSN 2540 99 830 4533.
  17. One has come down from a job in the Firth of Forth, joining its sister. I think they have been doing off shore wind farm work.
  18. Storeing verticaly is not recomended without restraints. A few years ago a youngster was playing in a haulage yard not far away from here and pulled a truck tyre over on himself with catostrophic results.
  19. If you only have access to small pieces of timber, I have found it practical to sandwich them between plywood. You can make them to a convenient size and they are light for getting into place. I have used these two for about 30 years and they are still good. You can nail, screw or glue them together.
  20. Yes, but the crane is up there on the deck. They have been using it up there as well.
