  1. I have used a smear of Hermitite and sometimes modern silicone seal on the fitting or pipe before putting the hose on. I also if it was a hose that had accessability problems doubled up on the Jubillee clips without having to resort to other measures. Not wanting to upset any R.N. personnel. by not using their clips
  2. I cannot remember the exact legal wording but basically yes.
  3. I have a friend who drove CVRTs while in service. He says the cause of most breakdowns in his experience was water hoses blowing off and dumping the coolant.

  9. Yes, If you put it in 4wd to stop the propshaft turning, turn one the other will go opposite way. This way you will be able to get a idea if the Sun and Star gears have been damaged. If you take it out of 4wd the Crown wheel and pinion will turn if there is a level plug in the diff case you can check the teeth as you turn it. Have you drained any of the oils and looked for debris?

  11. Jack up both wheels on the same axle then rotate one wheel the other one should turn or you will hear some noise.
  12. I was never a fan of Man s. That Volvo I shift is the market leader even after the years since its introduction the others have not caught up. Only thing I did not like was the gear selector was not iluminated, Working a lot of night shifts I missed it. It is funny though the Renault electricians have the engine mapping sorted better than Volvo. That flat floor cab on tramping must be great. When I drove a car transporter with a peak the only way to get dressed was lying down.
  13. Oil pump failure is uncommon, If it ran without oil feed to the bearings it would stop thud fairy quickly.
  14. Remove drive belts from Ancileries just to rule out a problem with them. Does the engine turn with the clutch depressed? I presume 4 turns is the Crankshaft, that would be 2 full turns for the camshaft and fuel pump as they run at 1/2 crankshaft revolutions
  15. If the push rods were O.K. that probably rules out cam follower. One step forward.
