  1. Hi That sounds fair to me. How are we going to work this.
  2. Hi, What sort of money are you looking for? Regards John.
  3. These vehicles were derived from civi versions, early ones Ford and later ones Renault a lot of parts should be common. Bearing,s will be obtainable from your local bearing supplier, pattern numbers should be etched onto them.
  4. If you have a plastic card licence it has your entitilement codes on the front (9) and the category,s on the reverse plus dates from and to expiry.
  5. AEC engines and cooling problems unfortunatly go together, but not exclusivly for that age of engine builders. Long stroke, wet liners of the day, slow reving and evolving piston and ring technology. This gave many diesel engines a problem with liner erosion caused by several design and material deficency's, Injectors and charge detonation tech was really in its infancy also. Liner wall vibration caused by piston slap and ring stutter amongst other causes, actually causing the coolant to loose contact with the outside of the liner causing hot spots and steam pockets giving poor cooling accentuated by poor water pump impellers and water speed through the system. Along with foreign matter and bits of rust moving around in a confined space. This is where good thermostat and water pressure maintenance can help along with a good clean coolant mix to start with. Looking after these vehicles is a labour of love and persiverance, along with being inquisitive enough to do the detective work trying to find a vehicles history as you bring it up to your standard or repair it. You have done a fantastic job on your vehicles, they are a credit to you and your family. AEC seemed to want to shoot themselfs in the foot with regard to cooling and vibration management right up to the Ergomatic cabed variants. You have to love them though warts and all.
  6. I know its more work, but given age and inherant AEC problems with cooling it may be worth checking the timber tractor block for internal debris build up at some point. On older vehicles coolant management becomes a major issue manifesting itself in overheating problems on there show days. Or worse still pourous liners or cylinders.
  7. As long as you and your family are safe and uninjured, you can at least try to find some of the items and keep going.
  8. I only caught part of last nights program, It is well worth watching again when it comes around. His easy laid back style is easy to watch and the people who look after the aircraft took there rightfull place. Then the Aircraft!
  9. A CAV Tool for injector seats. Getting into specialist tool's now.
  10. This information really fleshes out the thread. Apparently there are no records for or by Q.A.I.M.N.S. after 1939 some later records are held at the National Archive.
  11. Thanks for the info, not many Warrior's in civvy hands. I will put it in the not used very often box.
  12. I have this little lifting grab. CV6012
  13. Pietermeritzburgh is about 90 km inland from Durban, And was developed very quickly into a garison town during WW2. A good candidate for Mrs Graham to find work at would be Oribi housing 181 Military Hospital initially staffed by Red Cross and St Johns Ambulance volumteers who were given Military rank in March 1942. A lot of casualties from the Middle East conflict passed through, there was also a large PoW camp nearby filled mostly with Italian PoWs.
  14. Please just keep adding details this is a facinating thread about real people, It would be closure if the ladies wherabouts in South Africa could be verified. At least to bring the family back together on paper.
  15. Its not just the pictures we can survive without them if we have to Jessie The Jeep. Its the content and sometimes feeling part of the story Its that indefineable X factor that will be missing if there is no narative to look forward to.
  16. When Guy Martin was involved with that WW1 replica tank, I seem to remember them talking about raising well into six figures as well as getting a lot of work done by volunteers. But what model would you go for, there were so many to choose from. Then there are the specialist ones, Including the one with a Sherman main gun.
  17. I thought it was me doing something wrong, again.
  18. I found a couple of these in another box.
  19. I do not think there will be a lot left at Cramlington, there have been two opencast mines on the old airfield and the Northumberlandia construction is now at the south end of the site. I have a photo of the Airship shed taken from Nelson Colliery in the 1960's I will look out.
  20. Does one side usually stand with sunshine on it?
  21. One large spanner and a well used tool roll.
