  1. Have a look at 633 SQN there is a part when the CO walks back to a series 1 landrover which is a trip in time. also have a look at the crash tenders in teh final shots. Or how about teh spitfires which are on fire in the Battle or Britain. whi are clearly made of wood.
  2. Did'nt someone fit one of these in a car a few years back. I have seen a radial fitted to a bike as well. bet that would be a sod to kick start!!
  3. I managed to get a set through Chris and they where a very good price and in great condition.
  4. There is no cover on the case shoot for the rardon. If you look close you will see.
  5. Already have ! cant you see them?
  6. Go for a Centurion there are much more usable and have the bonus of being easier for repairs . Gun tanks do have that image thing going on. But as has already been said unless you have a barn to keep her in and around 20 acres to play in the transport cost will kill. Got a few quotes to go to was and peace with mine and was between £2200 and £1600 for the cheapest quote. Do like the chieftain and Challangers 1and 2 but still would go for teh Cent unless you have unlimited funds and space not to mention fuel which goes for all of them. The Cent has a great sounding engine but cost you your first born just to run it. :cool2:
  7. If you can your hands on a set of teh early 90 and 110 dor tops which are all made of alloy and dont rust, also have sliding windows both the front and back. Mine came with these on and are so much better and look better to with teh slash angle of the windows, give it a go fast feel.
  8. Do love the Saladin armoured car. does have that wow factor, shoud have thought about this abit more as there are so many i like the looks of. I love the Centurion but also dont think it has the best look though Itr is my fav tank. thinks it the wheel stations that let it down.
  9. I would say for me its the crusader, I know it was not a very good tank but do think at the time it look modern and its appearance gave the impression of strength. For most impossing would agree with the IS3, looks like it would eat you alive and could'nt be touched by anything.
  10. New Colours for the Tecannos at Linton for the display year for teh 70th Anv .
  11. Been going through by books resently and got to thinking which is the best looking tank and AFV. I know that the look does not always mean it is the best what what it was to have done. My question is this. when you look at a Tank you expect to be both in terror and respect. So for you which is the best looking?:cool2:
  12. Its flying the White ensign, I thought only RN vessels where allowed to do that , so may be HMS now.Great pictures at Tyne mouth. must have taken them up near the Abbey. Sad that the yards are no longer builder our Navy. My family have built ships on the Tyne for generations.
  13. Do you know if there are any parts going on the spare cents. could do with a few bits for mine ! If you have a look at my gallery you will see what the FV4018 BARV looks like its like nothing else and you would know if you have one or not . Good Luck:D
  14. Took 5 hours to track the fault down to a dry joint on 1 of the cables. sorted now, which only leaved 851 more jobs to do!!
  15. Got a problem with teh offside front indecator on the Sabre and have been trying to track the problem down. Have got a loss of voltage at the light fitting which is most likly a poor connection to some part of teh harness. Dont have a wiring diagram . Have found teh junction box to the nearside front in teh transmission compartment have not been able to identifie the cable, dont want to start pulling each off intern till i find it wonderd if anyone could help will idenifircation. I am getting about 6 volts at the light fitting before anyone asks. The earth is good and have even run another just in case.
  16. Your more than welcome to come round and giev me a hand. I wil;l be taking it to Sheffield Steam Rally 27/28 of June at North Anston and there is a big play pen to run it round.:nut:
  17. where did the Sheffield Churchill go then. What has become of it. Drove my sabre up to have a photo of the two together but was to late. Do have a couple of picks before it went though. Always thought it would be a nice project.

    B29

if the payload of teh B29 is 20,000 lbs and the lancs for 22,000 lbs Is not the Lanc the one capable of a heavier bomb load? If the RAF had used Mosquitoswith the bomb load they could carry plus there speed more aircrew lives could have been saved and reduced the needed for support fighters. Not to mention higher accuracy.
  19. would be nice if after the film they could leave at least one outside RAF Scampton with AJG on it !!!
  20. did find this of one of the replicas " http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/entertainment/2383809/Takeoff-looms/ " and more.
  21. Have to admit I don't get all this about the name of a historical dog. Why is okay for some people to use a word and not others. I remember watching a programe about Richard Prior who usedthe "N" word alot as do a lot of black comic, his wife and now widow is white and she passed a coment at a party useing the same word in the same context in the same conversation and what had been acceptble when Prior had used it no longer was so for her. Double standard there I fear. It is not the word so much as the context for the word and who ueses it. But this is only one part of history being rewriten to suit the PC word! Only my thoughts and sorry if I have offended anyone!!:cool2:
  22. When did the MOD change from using branch specific numbers for vehilces to conbine all the numbers so you could no longer tell which vehicle was with either RAF Army or RN, I know that you used to have numbers with RN for the NAvy ie 12 RN 23 and for the RAF you would have a A prefix such as 49 AT 21 for a AFV(T) and for the army 02 ZR 77 for a tank or 33 HG 33 for a landrover . What I want to know is when all this stopped and did they all do it at the same time or was there a delay for any branch?
  23. KNow this may be redundant, but have you checked all the road wheels for both condition of the rubber as well as torque on the nuts and clearance.
  24. There used to be a sign in the crew room which said " Propellers are dangerous when running" You know will out that I am sure I would have just walked into them to see what would happen!!!!!!:cool2:
  25. I love the quote in teh news paper about this when one fellow said that the £750,000 spent to improve teh view of the museum would have been better spent on historic vessels .
