  1. The crusader always appieled to me for no other reason than the look. I know it was full of faults but still like the look. I do though wonder what tracked vehicles are the easiest to operate and maintain. The cletrac does look like fun, Are there any vickers light tanks in private hands? Still ove the CVRT series, and would happily swap the sabre for the scimmiter in service. CAnt realy think of another which is as easy to drive and get out and ablut in. That said do wonder what is the "most practicle vehicle".
  2. I would love to have a crusader, though not the best or most reliable. Never understand the obsession with german armour.
  3. You should look at some of the aircraft museums for waste of perfectly good airframes. Cosford had a MK1 Vulcan whiich they left to rot and in the end sent to the scrapman. We saddly dont have teh climate to leave vehicles outside and not worry about decay . The loss of so many rare and unusual vehciles is traggic. I dont have to much of a problem with museum selling of exhibits within reason, they may not come in as part of the theme and so long as they are preserved whats the problem. This is to a point as there are time museum sell for no other reason other than money, rather than to let others have it. Then you will find some who have loads of teh same vehilce but in different marks. this is of interest but the general public like to see as many different types rather than lots of the same.
  4. Looking at all the armour about these days and the price they go for wondered what if money was no object, what people would have. I am looking at this from the point of view of fun factor rather than rarity factor. I would count out most if not all the MBT's as there is little point taking it out on the main roads. There are tons of smaller and slightly more practicle tanks and afvs there are. the CVRT range springs to mind. What I would look for is ease of parts and maintainance as well as ease of travel on the public roads . So I would not count my BARV though would love to take her to the shops!
  5. There are still tons of shells turing up in farmers fields in France and Belgium from both wars. A friend of mine lives in Belgium and knows one of teh farmers . Said that they gave up calling EOD years back as it takes so long, instead they through shells into the hedgerows and where there is enough bits give EOD a call to take them away. Bit scary when you think how many gas shells there where that never went off. Thinks it around 25%?
  6. Always thought the Fox was a followon from the MK 5 Ferret you can see how they evolved from fox to ferret. Though there is a lot of development to get a ferret into a fox.
  7. Police are not always the answer, they often have there own aggenda. But good quality security is much better and cheaper so you can have more bodies.
  8. I see withams now has that up for sale in there auctions section. with Terry Brooks being the high bidder.
  9. Is that a Valantine in the background?
  10. Some of teh Ferrets used in the first gulf war had the O/S bin removed for ease of crew escape. So the stroy goes.
  11. How many have they got. conted at least 3 M3's. But what about the turrets? Intesting the pieces already cutout?
  12. Had heard the Chrchill that ws on the plinth in Sheffield was now under restoration. Should be fairly simple as most of it was still there, engine and gearbox still insitu.
  13. Seen the new publicity image for the show for 2010 and this shows a B1 and a Canberra. I know that there is a lot of wishful thinking in these images but was hopful that they might have these flying. Does anyone know what is to go. I have looked on there site but there is little information on aircraft to fly and no mention of the Vulcan.
  14. This is not somthing that they are openly advertising. I remember at Waddington that they where talking about it flying for 10 years.
  15. Looks like there arfe assessing the ability of the bridge to take the different types of tanks.
  16. Would love to see the RAF looking after the vulcan again. that way you would know any money given would go to the aircraft and not lost on executive pay. Not sure how much does go to saleries on the vulcan trust but if they drew a wadge that was just enough to keep the wolf from the door and at time when the sponsorship imporve then run it as a profit bussiness.
  17. Have to admit I never understood why the MOD did'nt do a retro refit on the Centurion BARVs there was nothing wrong with them. The only wekaness has to be visablity but that could have been corrected. The other option which I realy dont understand why they did not go down this path was to use the Challanger 2 chassis for the base rather than the german tank. easier to get parks when your own tanks are the ssame.
  18. The last photo shows my BARV at the back.Do you know where they where taken. Thought it might be ROFL, but could also be anywhere. But as they seem to show them being built i would go for Leeds. How did you come by these photos?
  19. Love the ferret with the floatation skirt still on it, cant be to many of them left.
  20. Dont know if he still has it but there was a T34 parked around the back of the hanger sheeted upbut with an attempt to attatch rubber to teh tracks. He offered me a Green Pink panther years back for a very fair price but bought a Ferret instead. If only I had got the Pinky!
  21. If anyone has any photos of teh cents BARVs I would love a copy. Also there is always an open invite to anyone who wishes to have a closer look at mine in Doncaster.
  22. Intersting looking animal. Wouldn't mind that one my self. Would go nice with the BARV. But dont know about the price they want for a none runner.
  23. Can not seem to get that link to work.
  24. Why is it no longer flying ? I know it's only a replica bt still a fantastic piece to see flying.
