  1. we transplanted a 92 year old. It goes on tissue type and general health. A transplant has an expected life of 5 years more if your lucky, has to do with the drugs used. But do agree with your point. I remember the display that the Sunderland Vulcan gave prior to her last landing! The point about MV's is a good one and I don't ask others to pay for the work. Must be where I'm going wrong!!!!LOL
  2. Have to agree with you there. love to see the Vulcan in the air but the amount of money constantly being begged for and teh emotional black mail being used I can't cope with. I wonder how much would be needed if they only had to pay for teh maintainance side only rather than having 20 full time admin staff. Ontop of teh engineering team. If I am wrong with these figures sorry, I am sire someone will correct me. I know its an expensive bit of kit to keep going but if teh southend one is kept for much less then why not 558.
  3. Whats the turret bin fitted to the side of the rear turret bin and where can I get one or two? :cool2:
  4. I know that the Sabre was more of a stop gap than anything else. What I would like to know is which units had Sabre's? Also where would they have been. I was told by a friend of mine that they had used for training and had the colours set for enemy vehicles. Did the Blues and Royals have them or 17/21 Lancers, also been told they may have been with 4/7 Royal Dragoons. Can anyone tell me for sure on this. Thanks.:-D
  5. If anyone needs to use my BARav , they can have free use of it , so long as all expences are paid and I get to drive if on the beach. Anyone doing a Falklands or Gulf war film or doc. They can fill the tank with 5 star whilst there are at it. Sorry can dream!!!:wow:
  6. I was thinking of a different part of the track after all.
  7. Cheers , Nerver realised just how different they are. Neck time I am told they are teh same engine whithout the super charger I will know what to say.
  8. I know that RR Merlins engines have been used is trucks Boats cars and even a motorbike and the same can be said for teh down rated metor engine which has no super charger. With all the repro aircraft being made has anyone tried to fit a automotive RR Meteor engine in any of these, if at all possible. I would have put this in the aviation section but thought that those in teh know about land based vehicles would most likly be in the MV Chatter section. Sorry if anyone thinks I have put this in the wrong spot, if so I am sure it will be moved. I did wounder though how much better the repor aircraft would sound with an engine musch closer to the original, though not to sure how the CAA would feel about letting said engien be used, not to mention what mods they would want. Not even sure the engien would be able to rev high enough or how much is woud cost to get the engine in teh right configuaration. :nut:
  9. Missed that bit sorry. Is this more likly to cause damage on a tarmac road rather than a concrete one which would make sense as I have only made tight turns on the concrete. Though when I took the BARV onto a tarmac road last year I had to make a first gear left turn , which made a mess of the mud I was on but only left scuffs on the road? But I was trying hard to be careful.:-D Could you explan which part the "SPUD" is please I I'm ot sure I am thinking of the same part, a photo would be even better, sorry to be so dumb on this point, still getting to grips with the whole tracked thing. Its a lot different from aircraft or landrovers.:cheesy:
  10. I thought part of it went to the aircraft museum at Skipol? I rember going there a few years after they found that wreck and seing parts of different aircraft that had been found after teh land was reclaimed. But could be wrong , memory does plays tricks.
  11. I had also heard of reversing tracks for the BARV's but all the photos I have seen both coming out of ROFL at Barnbow to one in service durrring the 60's 70's 80's 90's and on mine which left service in 2005 all show the same way round. Have a look in my album or website if these are different to the standard Centurions then its has to be right. But I doent think mine look any different to any other cent I have seen. I dont see how turning the track will make any difference to road damage. I have had mine on the road and she left nothing other than the odd scuff mark.
  12. The original reg number for mine was T351699 until it was changed to 02 ZR 77 in 1948 when the army abandoned the old form of registrations. I have no exact build date other than it was in contract M14442 of 300 Tanks being MK1's 2's and 3's built between 1944 and 1946 .
  13. The pirce or large tracked armour that was was post ww2 tends to rise only slowly. Look at the price of either a Centurion or Chieftain a good one fetch around £20,000 but if you want a good scorpion your paying much more. Then you can also look at the Lager trucks same thing happens. When you have somthing that is harder to store then the price is lower for what the MOD would have paid in the first place.
  14. Does any one know what is the oldest running Centurion and where is it?:wow:
  15. Does Bovingtons MK1 Centurion run? I dont get the obccession with german armour. I understand an interest but I still think we should look after our own countries heritage first before another. I dont think the German museums would be so interested in restoring and maintaining British armour over there own. I think people sometimes forget that alot of German armour was put together by slave labour .
  16. Whilst trying to find any aircraft scrap yeards on the net and found on google maps images of manston airfield. To the North east of the airfield there a few airframes a few which look like they are on the firedump. The question is are the airframes scrap, being stored, or being used for fire crew training. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=51.354738,+1.348228&vps=1&jsv=200b&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=11.823255,39.331055&ie=UTF8&geocode=FXKcDwMdhJIUAA&split=0
  17. Its a very impresive looking vehicle but the lenght of that barrel is something else. Cant imagine what it would be like to take one out on public roads! I thought one was sold on mil web a few years back without the barrel. Also thought that a complet unit was sold on there 2 but could have been a m107?
  18. Did anyone download the clip? If I had seen it I would have. I have saved other bits that where of interest.
  19. Dont know what it is about the eak turret but it makes the 432 look more like a Darlek , also makes it more fun. Did think about getting a turreted 432 before the sabre but didn't like the look of the outline, looked to high, unlike the peak turret which my wife thinks looks cute!
  20. 00 ZR 36 is a Cent BARV but not sure if that is what you want to know. Where is the sherman BARV from?
  21. Does anyone know if they plan to restore that one soon or are they more interested in restoring German armour?
  22. I always thought that the designation of C47 was a military one rather than that of Douglas. As the E3 is teh 707 airframe and so on.
  23. Wondered where that site had gone. Good to have the link, Thanks.
  24. Try this one This was how she came strainght from the MOD.
