German vehicles or captured?

I always thought they were spares from the battleship St Petersburg, anyway they were ex Rusian Naval ordnace. When the guns were cut up, BOC had to develop a special gas mix to cut them. All that remains is a section about 4 inches long. I don't know if they ever fired in anger. The Batterie Lothriegn at Noirmont fired atotal of 48 in anger. Alderney batteries shelled France and the area round Cherbourg and was itself shelled by HMS Rodney.

Just doing some quick checking the Mirus guns have ahistory all there own http://www.festungguernsey.supanet.com/batterie_mirus.htm

Hey Rick, Moi! an agent of Jersy tourism! :nono: the second and third pictures are captioned, 'Back of 2 Balmoral Terrace Trinity Hill, Luftwaffe moving into No's 1,3 &4.'

So think about it. You couldn't get more of an English sounding adress, and it is part of the UK, still exists.

Apologies for being pedantic, but Jersey (and all the other Channel Islands and the Isle of Man as well) are part of the British Isles and are British Dependencies but they are definitely not part of the UK.

They are not in the EU either.

Partly correct the Island's are Bailliwicks, that is they have the right to raise thier own laws and taxation. Gurnersey is part of the EEC, Jersey is not. Alligance is owed to the Monarch, personally, through the title Duchuchess (or Duke) of Normandy. they are not 'Dependencies' as they do not have a Govenor, the monarch is head of state, The Queen is represented by a Lieutenat govenor, who incedentally sits below the Baillif in the States Chamber. the upshot is as the Tiltle of Dof N is older than the English title, we own you lot.

P.S. A lot of Jersey people still consider Gurnersey tratiors as they supported Cromwell.

Whereas the people of Northumberland and Durham traditionally despised the people of Newcastle for supporting King George when he went on his tour of Scotland. Among other things like preferential rights to trading coal to the detriments of their neighbours.

Funny how modern history rewrote all this though and now everybody loves a Geordie.
