14/CW stands for 14 Command Workshop (Ashford),
31/BW stands for 31 Base Workshop, also in Ashford.

Just to make it clear to the above, 14 Command Workshop was at Ashford in Kent, and 31 Base Workshop was at Ashford, Middlesex.

14 Command Workshop was renumbered in later post war years to 44 Command Workshop, as I worked there! The rebuild plates used the workshop identity code of EC02.

..which surely makes it all the more useful that "Rewdco" has decided to share his extensive archive research and combine it with existing knowledge and discussions. I'm sure that he's hoping for constructive comments and further documentary evidence.
