Quadman42
Hi all after 16 years sat in a barn I am getting round to sourcing bits for the 1941 Mk 1 Bofors which was then “ upgraded “ Bristol. Would anyone know which generator was fitted and anyone likely to have one. all info gratefully received
MatchFuzee
The Bristol Bofors relied on battery power, with a small single-cylinder J.A.P engine driving a recharging dynamo fitted at the back of the loading platform. http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=13480 Does the engine give a clue to the generator? Sorry, no information on the generator.
Richard Farrant
A friend in Australia had a Bristol Bofors once and we came to the conclusion that the charging set was very similar or identical to the one used by the RAF on the Trolley Acc. The engine was a JAP 2A. Somewhere I have a manual on a CD for this piece of artillery.
Richard Farrant
Just found some info on the Charger, Battery, it is given as being part no. AN.386.MA There is also a note showing that the charger is an Air Ministry item No. 42U/500 modified by increasing the petrol tank capacity from 2 to 3 pints and reversing the instrument panel.

REME 245
One was sold in this country about 5 years so in theory still around to view. The Royal Artillery Historical Collection may also have one in their collection in Wiltshire.

Richard Farrant
You may find a complete RAF charging set, here is one on a Trolley accumulater. The angle iron frame at the base of the set has a handle at each end and can be seen in this photo.

Quadman42
Hi all, does anyone have the wiring diagram for the Bristol Bofors as the majority of my wires are missing. Any booklets relating to the BB ( even if photocopied or scanned ) would be greatly appreciated many thanks
