The history of those who fought as part of Airborne Forces is realistically portrayed in their Museum in Aldershot. The Museum was officially opened in March 1969 by Field Marshall Montgomery. It traces the history of British Airborne Forces since their beginning in 1940 to the present day. With the help of weapons, equipment, dioramas and briefing models we tell the story of the many actions in which members of the Parachute Regiment and other Airborne soldiers took part; the early raids, D-Day, Arnhem, Rhine Crossing and the post-war campaigns such as the Falklands. The museum organises 3 lectures a year, usually related to Airborne topics. If you would like to be on our mailing list please contact the Museum. The Museum is located in Browning Barracks, Aldershot just off the A325 Farnborough – Farnham Road and easily recognised by the Dakota aeroplane in front of it.

Opening times: 10.00 – 4.30pm (last entry 3.45pm)

Closed Sundays/Bank Holidays

Admission £3.00 (Adults) £1.00 (Children/Senior Citizens)

Saturday openings:- Groups by appointment

£3.50 (Adults) £1.50 (Children/Senior Citizens)

Please note the museum is located inside Browning Barracks. Upon arrival at the main gate you will be asked by the Guard to produce some form of photgraph identity/driving licence/PRA card. When requested, please assist the guard by producing some form of I.D. Failure to provide I.D. can lead to your entry being denied and ultimately a wasted journey. Please understand this action is in the interest of security and not a measure to obstruct visitors.

What a terrible shame. What is to happen to the exhibits that won't get displayed ever again? Will there be an opportunity to acquire anything? I particularly remember a Vigilant & a Malkara, but the most poignant exhibit I saw was not on official display. It was a homemade Israeli flame thrower for attacking British troops.

It is sad that after 38 years the Airborne forces museum is closing on fri.Dec 21st, for those who have not visited it yet ought to see this unique collection, where else can you see a Jeep on its original airdrop platform, how about giving it a good farewell by having an informal MV gathering there on Sat 15th Dec ? Who would be interested in attending ?
