PB1954RNS
Hi I'm looking for two side mirrors to fit on the Albion BY5. I would like to get as near as possible to the originals that were fitted to this lorry or any British Army lorry 1939-45. They would of been an oblong type poss about 5" or 6" long and to have a mounting clamp to fit 1/2" bar arm, Any help on where to get a couple of these mirrors would be most welcome as all I have found is vintage car or modern day tractors/ lorries. Many thanks. Paul Burns.
MatchFuzee
If a larger mirror is O.K. one for a Land Rover Series might be the answer. Images of mirror here:- http://www.darebritannia.com/series-land-rover-boomerang-mirrors.html
PB1954RNS
If a larger mirror is O.K. one for a Land Rover Series might be the answer. Images of mirror here:- http://www.darebritannia.com/series-land-rover-boomerang-mirrors.html Hi. Many thanks for the info I did think about looking at a set of Land Rover mirrors as I have looked on different sites but only found modern lorries or tractors, a set of tractor mirrors on the lorry would make it look like Dumbo! Also did look on various web sites for vintage cars for trying to get a set but only found wing mirrors. So a set of wing mirrors on the cab front - no not quite right. Thanks again. Paul Burns. Pete Ashby
Have checked out Paul Beck's site ? thttps://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/products/395-container-lucas-type-160-mirror this type was fitted to most pre war and early war time trucks the example is plated but I seem to remember he used to do a plain brass version, he has the correct style mounting arms as well if you scroll through the catalogue Pete

ruxy
Have a trawl through the Britax-PMG ''commercials" , IMHO not as good as it was years ago , probably for safety thus restricted to boomerang types . You will find the official Land Rover 'Defender' type and also IIRC the later Lightweight (door hinge-mounted) , tractor cab types , don't think you will find chrome bling ,, http://britax-pmg.com/products/mirrors-2/britax-mirror-arm-z4007-456/
Richard Farrant
I still use these mirrors on my Bedford, despite their size a good angle of view in them. The last British army vehicles to use them were Ferrets, and the mods were done to replace them with a Land Rover type of mirror. Around early 80's I think. They were made by either Radydot, Desmo or Wingard. Paul Beck has them, possibly repro, but same style with screws to retain the rim, looks like the brass one is a good buy, about half the price that I've seen WD ones go for. Sorry for the lack of replies but the wife took me on a weeks cruise as part of the deal for keeping the Albion at the bottom of the drive. On my return found the Broadband not working and only just got back on to check for messages. I shall check out all the info sent to me with regards to side mirrors. Sorry for the delay. Paul Burns.
