R Cubed
Hi all, I have been looking at these trucks namely the Kraz 255 yes the big one, and wondered if they require plating in this country and if they would comply, you know brakes etc... As they are about 9000Kg's empty I presume it's a HGV licence ? Has anyone out there got one and would like to describe what its like to use. R Cubed Possibly about to bite off way more than I can chew :shake:

arthur.m
There's one Kraz for sale locally... sadly they are not road legal here, it's the width...Seems like russiantrucks or somebody export them to UK. New auction coming this autumn, come and buy Yourself one. Greetings, Arthur, Finland

arthur.m
Me too, no connection. Every spring and autumn one big auction here with maybe 30-40 vehicles, lots of them Russian-built, Zil, Kraz, Gaz, but also Sisu and Scania. I happen to live in the same small town with a used cars dealer who regularly visits the auction and has some stuff in his yard. For example he now has a clean-looking Kraz fresh from this year's auction for about 5000 euros. Also some Gaz 69 jeeps. You can find these vehicles here, not very many people collect them. Tony B
If a vehicle is registered before 1960 and used unladen not for commercial use, I beleive an HGV licence isn't needed.Check commercial classic sites. If a vehicle is over 2.4 meters wide, 8' 2in. in proper measures escort rules apply. Get the LGV driving manual from WH Smiths, thats the bible for the test all info will be in there. Incedentally a lot of Russian kit uses a 'metricated' Dodge T-214 engine. The Russian's got a lot of Dodges during WW2 , or The Great Patriotic War, then swiped the engine as their own. :dunno:

Tony B
Couldn't post photo, a picture of one would be to big. You won't need a tent or caravan, just drop a tarpaulin and set up home underneath the chassis. there were several including the rocket trailer at Coulsdon a few years back. I could damn near park the Dodge under them.

Go on you ******* clamp or tow that!
