guykay
Saw this photo at the titanic exhibition in Belfast. Does this explain the Churchill on display down the road at Carricfergus?
Pzkpfw-e
They're not Churchills. They're Matilda II hulls.
Richard Farrant
Probably Harland and Wolfe as, without looking up, I recollect they were one of the constructors of Matilda II tanks.
Whittingham warrior
They also built an early prototype of what became the Churchill, the A20. It mounted a Matilda turret and was fitted with mini-sponsons. I suspect there is a picture of it in David Fletcher's 'The Great Tank Scandal.' Pzkpfw-e
TOG1 was the design with sponsons.
eddy8men
Harland and wolfe built the first Churchill but gave the contract to Vauxhall to finish. I think the irish army had 4 churchills after the war and I had heard they were re engined to meteor's
Bob Grundy
I do not think that TOG1 has any connection with the prototype Churchill as illustrated.
