Fictional story of the 761 tank battalion

I'm trying to find a book about this battalion.

I read it a few years ago and it had a number as it's title which may not have been 761.

It was a fictional story based on their action during WW2.

At least one character was based on the real "Top" Sargeant.

It was a paperback, dark gray/black cover with three numbers as the title.

It's a long shot but any help would be appreciated.

I've checked through these links but it isn't there. The book I read was definately fiction but part based on the 761.

I'm running out of ways to phrase my book search.

Hi and thanks Andy.

This isn't the book either.

The book I had was a paperback, dark cover with raised numbers as the title.

If I remember rightly, the story started with the Top Sargeant getting out of his jeep on the tank battle ground and asking for a volunteer to help him get the body parts out of a battle damaged tank.

Does that "click" with anyone?
