fv1609
Yes an interesting, full-bodied & comprehensive reply, but alas the answer has to be nope. That curved thing is what is carried in the box.

Yup or it can be used out of the box for use with a different item which would be its primary function.

Richard Farrant
Clive, The socket looks like something on the back of a computer, is it some part of a computer test equipment for a Hornet or similar guided weapon?

hardyferret
So this is a battery and used somehow on, or with a missile of sorts, but why would you want a chargeable battery for a missile? Is it used on poss the sighting equipt? Or does it actually go on the missile and the charge facility to ensure full power when reqd by trickle charge? HF :? :? :?
David Ives
my guess would be the battery for the firing pins for a missile launcher :computerterror:

Richard Farrant
Just had closer look at one of the original pics and can read part of the Stock Number label, saying "Battery, Power".I think, cannot read the NSN though.

Yes getting very warm, well done on picking up on the missile theme. But as you sent me a banana, you'll have to choose from those options. fv1609
power supply for motor for missile guidance thing  well the motor underneath the missiles needs power to turn Well done David, very very good indeed. It is indeed the battery for the electrically operated tripod for operating two Vigilant ATGWs. I thought people would reckon the curved bit may be part of the missile itself. So how did you know that then? Edited November 17, 2009 by Marmite!! Photo links repaired
David Ives
followed the other guesses then looked at the picture and thought you wouldnt want to stand behind the missiles so it had to have a motor to turn it :-D
