Good Afternoon Everyone. Im Ben, new on this site, and the site was recommended to me, so lets hope somebody can help me. Im after the whereabouts of a Scammell Pioneer Reg. No. 7971 PJ. I drove this vehicle and painted it when it belonged to Patsy Gray a showmen from Mitcham London, It used to pull the living wagon and the Ark centre with a small genny behind that.It was last seen leaving Mitcham in 1971 when it was sold to a Roy Carter from Whitley Bay. The Ark was 1 of only 2 made in 1937 A78 and was made by Lakin It was made for King George V1 Coronation. Ive found the Old Foden we had down in Herefoed and in prestine condition thanks to A.G. Godsall 777 DOA. The Ark is now in The Alberta Reynolds Museum Toronto Canada. The Scammell is the last piece in my jigsaw, so any help would be surely appreciated, Best Regards to all Big Ben

Given the value of that registration plate it may have been transferred. No chance of chassis number or distinguishing features ?

It may be on here already with a different registration.

Welcome on board.

If I recall Lakin were based in West Norwood. I have always wondered the exact address as its just up the road from where I live. My father is into showland history and we always fancied going down to see what was left. You dont know the address of the factory do you?

Hello Ben - again.......It's a small world:laugh: You'll know what I mean:) And welcome to the HMVF Forum:)

I am going to post a photograph of the Scammell Pioneer SV/2S 6x4 Showmans Ballast Diesel Road Locomotive,7971 PJ,

on the this forum's Scammell Pioneer Thread. It sounds like it's the same Jack Leeson photograph at Banbury Mop Fair 1970. Curiously, the ownership of the Scammell was supposed to be W.Nichols, but that could be wrong.

Please QV the Scammell Pioneer Thread:)
