When charging a battery

Recommended Posts

One of the most important things to remember, when the battery is charging the cells are emitting a very volatile gas, even a spark will ignite the gas with potentially catastrophic results, the battery will explode, apart from the flying debris its also full of acid...... no naked lights or tampering with the connections whilst the battery is charging (creates a spark)

I now losen or remove plugs, since seeing the result of a battery explosion. A friend bought a brand new, sealead battery for an electric fence. Fortunatley he was charging it in his shed when the thing blew up. There was no vent on the batery, and he needed a new shed.
