A lot of pictures look like service brown, would make sense as i believe it was standard at that time

 

I had one 60 years ago, it hadn't been repainted and was a light grey colour.

I suppose it may be a case of that one of the factories ran out of the primary colour so instead of stopping production they just used whatever they could get hold of.

 

Probably wrong but just an idea

I had a twin tube parabike once and that had patches of Service Brown paint on it. I still have a single tube version in original condition and that is painted in dark green.

Hi Mel

I have two of the early twin tube models, one of the very first batch, frame number 1400 (with the angle iron brackets and not the later cast brackets, where the bike folds) and the other, frame number 9000 something and both of these still had traces of the original green paint, I have about 9/10 bikes, in various conditions and I never yet seen one with any traces of brown paint. Does anybody have a bike with original brown paint finish ?
