rbrtcrowther
How many H M V F members does it take to change a light bulb? 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs 6 to argue over whether it’s “lightbulb” or “light bulb” … another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is “lamp” 15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that “light bulb” is perfectly correct 19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb forum 11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum 36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty 5 People to post pics of their own light bulbs 15 People to post “I can’t see S$%^!” and their own light bulbs 7 to post URL’s where one can see examples of different light bulbs 4 to post that the URL’s were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL’s 13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add “Me too” 5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy 4 to say “didn’t we go through this already a short time ago?” 13 to say “do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs” 1 to bring politics into the discussion by adding that George W. isn’t the brightest bulb. 4 more to get into personal attacks over their political views. 1 moderator to lock the light bulb thread. 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again. Tony B
Yeah and you forgot Tilley and Bi Alladin paraffin pressure lamps! :-D
antarmike
But prior to changing the light bulb, the person who had done this would probably have posted a question as to "whether the light bulb needs changing" and "my bulb doesn't give out any light when switched on, is this normal?
Tony B
Don't forget you also need the H&S protocols! Is the bulb above head height? Is your back able to get down to it? Why the **** are we bothering with these clapped out heaps anyway? :-D
antarmike
By halfway down the list someone would have suggested it might be an electrical problem, not a fault of the lamp, and twenty people would have jumped in telling us how to check the wiring, which model AVO to use and how, and posting six possible versions of wiring layout, dependant on model, contract number and year of build..... antarmike
It will need another two members to realise that the old bulb will need disoposing of, and pointing out the best place to do this, and a third person to point out some obscure piece of legislation saying you can't throw dead lamps in a bin or a skip, but they must be reccycled through appropriate facilities... antarmike
It then needs a new member to post that he doesn't have a light bulb yet, but one day when he has saved up he wants one because "they are really Cool", and he has joined the site because it has so much information on light bulbs. This will be followed by four members welcoming the new member, and inviting him to introduce himself properly in the "introductions and welcomes"
antarmike
It then will need another member to asks for photos and dimensions because he wants to build a 1/35 Scale model and wants to get it right.
antarmike
At which point someone will wade in with "I hope it had a broad Arrow on it otherwise it will spoilt the "Authenticity" of the Lamp. Followed by an in depth discussion by three members as to who made the original bulb, and whether it wouldn't be better to try and find a NOS bulb. mike65
Then you need another membver to say that light bulbs are OK but since he upgraded to a flourescent tube he has never had so much fun and that we should all do it. Mike

antarmike
What about the one to say the light bulb is too wide and you can't legally change it... (Sorry couldnt resist - ducks for cover...) probably someone (not me) would sthen ay it is the wrong wattage and doesn't comply with lighting regs, closely followed by three people asking whether it has to comply with current lighting regs or regs that were in place when the truck was built.
