Cheers for the info on the Filter..

Carried on stripping down today, bumper & wings off.. apart from a bit of rot to the front of the wings under the bumper & a bit on the inner part of the wings they are in very good condition with no dents... the rot will be easy fix.

My K2 has only one wiper motor fitted, the passenger side has been blanked off..

I presumed this had been done at some time later in it's life but I have just noticed another with exactly the same blanking plate on the passenger side.. so was there only one fitted at the time of manufacture & if so why when the mounting holes are there for another one??

Perhaps it's because the cab was originally a commercial design, presumably the W D deemed it unnecessary to have a wiper on the passenger side.

My previous ATV only had one wiper. Remember these were utility vehicles, built by necessity on the cheap. I guess it was a cost cutting excercise bought in during production, hence the blanked off passenger side.

Incidently, not being picky but ATV's were ordered by the Home Office not War Dept.

Great to see another one in captivity, the strip down pics bring back memories!

You're not being picky, I stand corrected. In my defence it was late and I was thinking about K6's and other WD vehicles which only had one wiper.

Hi Lee,

On the oil filter, as Reme 245 says it's only a bypass - regular changes of good oil will do more for the engine. Talk to Morris about oils, it may be that a modern oil (which holds rubbish in suspension so it can be removed by the filter) may be less suitable than a period formulation.

I don't know if the 3 litre engine is the same, but the 4 litre has a blanking plate further forward on the block which can be removed and a full-flow head & filter from the later Austin / BMC trucks fitted.

My experience on the instrument bezels is that if they're not chrome they're dash panel colour, but that's on military rather than NFS vehicles.

Set about lifting the cab of today (with Neils assistance) first attempt failed when I suddenly realized that the steering wheel needed to come off... that wouldn't budge & I didn't have a puller to hand so it was steering box out..

With that out of the way the cab lifted off easily..

I made a wood frame to bolt the cab to, keeps it square & easier to move about..

They never want to come off. If Mr Farrant or someone's got a handy tip for making Austin steering wheels let go without damage I'd love to hear it.

You have to look on the similer lable for the contract No. Two are from my K30 and one from Tilly. :D

Would this be the contract number in the bottom right?

Haven't come across any plates like that yet.. would the K2 ATV have similar plates or would they only be on the Military versions of the K2 ?
