  1. Count me in, although I am probably off the beaten track a little bit.
  2. Just thinking Andy-which one of us is due the prize for SLOWEST ever restoration of an Explorer. I'm currently at 13 yrs and counting...:nono:
  3. Hello sharky welcome to the forum. Tell your wife that you've now been introduced to someone who is 33, with four children under six, youngest 3 months (including a little girl called Evelyn!) AND a Scammell Explorer. :yay: It does work, believe me, but you don't get a lot of restoration work done in a hurry. Just wait til they're a bit older and can wield the spanners... You're among friends here. Daz
  4. Thanks NOS. It would be useful to have their contact info also if you can find it. Not sure about the different end sizes, just another thing to find out as Thor's restoration shuffles along! It makes Scammells so individual.....:nut:
  5. Hi Bob, welcome to the forum. Would love to see some photos when you have time. Try www.scammellregister.co.uk where Parry Davis is the keeper of all the manuals. You might like to introduce yourself to everyone in the relevent section of the forum. In the meantime we'll see about finding a big enough parking space for you in the Clubhouse car park. Cheers. Daz
  6. I was told that the UK armed forces would on occasion dump vehicles overboard on return from overseas, though I can't remember why. Can anyone verify this? Fantastic photos Steve. Thanks for posting.
  7. Thanks very much Clive. It's good to have a recommended contact. Cheers. Daz

  8. I'm having trouble locating suitable replacement hose locally. It's the spiral bound stuff for the front brake servos I'm after. Can anyone shed any light on where to get it please or a suitable modern alternative? Ta Daz
  9. Was thinking that too, but the axles look pretty wide compared to the hull, presumably to aid stability. Great looking vehicle though.
  10. For what it's worth- a lot of my kit is Draper and I've abused it a lot over the years and 3 restos. Not too expensive and a lot of stockists. Really cheap stuf is not worth the money. I was undoing screws on the Discovery the other day with a driver from one of these cheap do-it-all kits and managed to screw the screwdriver head right off the shaft without budging the screw.....b***er :nono:

    No offence.

This sign welcomes guests to a b&b in Madrid.....Has anyone else seen the massive sign on entering Lewes, E. Sussex which just says "COBBLERS"? :-D
  12.: for the info. I'll look out for this next year. Cheers. Daz
  13. Thanks for posting some great photos. Which event was this? It's local to me but I managed to miss it altogether. Doh!
  14. Thanks for the photos guys. It was my first time at the show and I'll be back for sure! Seeing Antarmike going round the playpen brought back many happy memories for my Dad, who hadn't been near an Antar since he drove one in the Army. My 5 and 3 year old were fascinated by the heavy haulage and the roadbuilding. Must get the Explorer roadworthy soon and join in the fun.
  15. Best not make rash statements when I know how long it's taken me so far! :rofl:One day....
  16. Great videos Andy! Thanks for posting. It was a great event we thought and even better for meeting some of you. :-D Must get Thor finished and be a part of it all another year...
  17. Hope to see a few of you at Dorset this weekend. Cheers. Daz
  18. Terrific photos Ed. Thanks for posting. Just needs a coat of paint...:cool2:
  19. The only thing I can suggest is to contact the Military Vehicle Trust who have a healthy contingent in this area. Good luck. Sorry can't give you more info. Daz
  20. Welcome Tim. Great to have you here and hear about your great collection.
  21. What a fantastic family history! welcome to the forum Lord Curzon. It's great to have you here. Daz
  22. Funny you should ask that mate. Just been measuring up today for a for a pole barn for Thor and two tractors (to keep mother-in-law happy 'cos it's her land!) Just need to cost it all out now and hopefully start clearing the site after GDSF. Been busy stripping the Discovery for a Land Rover sortout tomorrow, so although I've got loads of bits to fit to Thor I haven't done much and probably won't do any more until the shed is built. Look forward to catching up in a couple of weeks. Will sort some bits for you. cheers mate
