  1. Have just removed the non original, worm ridden cab. Nicely made though. The pyrene fire extinguisher is stamped WD 1940 ! (coincidence?). Few more pics for your perusal. I guess the captive nuts along the top of the bulkhead (4 pairs) are for the aero screen brackets, also the centre ones hold the top of the dash. Any comments on the air filter? Have had the engine turning over on a battery, all valves move ok, no spark though:( Have just found 14198 stamped in an unidentified piece of bodywork wood. Cheers! Must get on! Paul
  2. I overlooked another brass plate! Its on top of the dash and reads Chassis Contract No T8957 Catalogue Ref No MW. Any ideas?
  3. Great! So she's earlier than expected. There are captive nuts for the grill, does this mean an external mesh? The guage is just oil pressure. I will try and get some more pics, may wait until the weekend and daylight. Thanks so much for your help and patience with an MW novice but avid fan!
  4. Anyone know where its was? My 'new' MW (see restoration thread) was rebuilt to class 1 there 10-12-46.
  5. Hi John, Thanks for your help thus far - greatly appreciated. I am in Reading, Berks incidently. I have taken a few pics which may or may not help. The front panel has been drilled for headlight surrounds, I assume for Butler lights. It appears to also have had a rectangular Bedford badge. Chassis number is MWD 18073 Engine number (on plaste on dash) is MW 20891. There is also a brass plate on the dash stating a rebuild to Class 1 10-12-46 at B army workshop No B123. The plate on top of the shock absorber is stamped 11-40. Out of interest, when rebuilt, do you know if they were mix and matched like jeeps or treated as individual vehicles? A confirmation of date, and what spec she would be (doors or no doors, Small or large lights etc) would be much appreciated. Not too clear but this is the front door frame where new cab meets bulkhead. Self explanatory! Is this an early dash? Regards Paul
  6. That early? I assumed as it has slotted bonnet sides it was later. I will check the numbers and post up here for your confirmation if you will. I will endevour to restore as she should be.
  7. Ok friends, first, my apologies to those who enquired after the MW posted for sale recently. I was lucky enough to be first in the queue:red:. I have always been in love with the MW and cant believe my good fortune. I assume a restoration blog will be acceptable. I will also be a good way of pestering all you experts for information, parts, dimensions etc:cool2:. Sadly I'm out all day today so have to wait before I can start poking and prodding. Will post a few numbers soon in the hope someone can date 'her' for me.
  8. Any pics or news on prices etc?
  9. Can anyone tell me the oil capacity of the Bedford 500 (none turbo).
  10. Could someone tell me the oil capacity and correct oil for the Bedford 500 (non turbo) engine please? Its in a 1983 TKG Fire Engine. Thanks in anticipation!
  11. Nice pics, thanks. There is a large gap between the two numbers though. Would this be due to varying ages plus the vast amount of vehicles being issued at the time. Were the numbers issued numericaly?
  12. Can anyone suggest a credible reg/serial number for an Raf staff car of 1939/40 period? Thanks in advance.
  13. I'll be there with my 1937 Dennis Fire Engine.
  14. Phew, the pressures off then, I've got an extra week to finish my restoration. :nut: Seriously, all the positive feedback from this year has made this my target for 2012.
  15. I can only echo the sentiments of everyone else. I didnt know Marc but am sure I have spoken to him at an event somewhere. We as preservationists have lost one of our 'family'
  16. Wow! Its hard to believe such finds are still out there. I'm afraid all I can offer is encouragement, and a couple of drinks at Normandy 2014 if she's done! Cant wait to read the restoration threads!
  17. Thanks for posting, very interesting.
  18. Parts are out there. Head gaskets are about but manifold gaskets are difficult to find. What do you need, I have various Dennis bits. May be able to arrange a scan of a handbook if required.
  19. That would be very interesting, thanks!:-D
  20. Having seen the X Ray lab pic in the ambulances gallery, I was wondering if anyone has pictures of OY Laboratory or other house type bodies. Many years ago my father rescued a water testing Lab and passed it onto an aquantance for restoration - it subsequently got scrapped! It was on civvy wheels so not sure if it was ex military. I was only young at the time, otherwise it wouldnt have gone anywhere!
  21. Hi, would be really interested in coming along in 2014 with a Vauxhall staff car (may be army or RAF) if acceptable. Is there a mailing list I can get on?
  22. One of my favourites, is the owner on this forum?
