  1. How many does a body have? I will probably need some in due course.
  2. Super project, I will watch with interest and admiration!
  3. Is it me? Since I got my MW recently, there seems to be an increase in wartime British vehicles for restoration appearing. Or am I just noticing them more? Surely there can't be many more left 'out there' to be discovered / offered for sale? Dont get me wrong, I think its great! the more the merrier!.
  4. Niiice! Welcome to the MW owner fraternity. I am a newbie to it myself so will let the experts answer your questions. That GS body is absolutly wrong though, as a favour I would be willing to remove it for you :cool2:. Seriously though, all the best, hope to see more pics soon. Paul.
  5. Would it be possible to let us (me) know how you get on sourcing the Ash, having it planed etc, as I will need some to build my MW body and dont live too far from Surrey. I will make enquiries locally too but if you find you can recommend a supplier then so much the better.
  6. Progressing well. I have got to do the same core plug on my MW. Am I right in saying the clutch and flywheel have to come off first, then the clutch housing?. Can you tell me where you got your new clutch please?
  7. Nice! Will look forward to the finished result. I know Brian Baxter, very knowledgable, I'm sure he will help you where he can.
  8. Its a long trip for you, but there is a lovely K6 in the reme museum at Arborfield, Berks.
  9. A bit more progress today, brake pipes and hoses, master cylinder (seized) and shock absorbers removed. Sorry about the delay Rippo, have looked again and there are two holes in bottom of chassis, not all that clear on the pic though. My bump stops are on top of the springs. Also gearbox removed in readiness to take off clutch and bellhousing to replace rear core plug.
  10. Didn't have much time on her this weekend, but have flushed the water jacket through and removed loads of silt! Have removed 3 of the core plugs 2 were leaking, have got to remove the gearbox as the rear core plug is also leaking.
  11. Thanks gents, a combination of caustic soda and a hot pressure wash seems to have cleared all the silt. Water now runs from the drain tap freely. I can still feel the odd bit of rust through the core plug holes, so a bit more flushing and I think we'll be there.
  12. Well done, same here! Look forward to the pics.
  13. The forerunner of Eagle has Landed - 'Went the day well?' is on channel 4 thurs (12th). Its a great propaganda film (1942) about a German unit disguised as British troops in an English village. Incidently, the village is actually Turville in Bucks, now known for the Vicar of Dibley, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Goodnight Mr Tom.
  14. Does this mean there's another MW resto on the go 44GPW?.
  15. Scuttle and cab floor now off, all seems quite solid. I have removed 3 of the core plugs (2 were perforated) and need to remove the gearbox to change the one on the back of the block which is leaking. The water jacket is also well and truly silted up. Rippo, I will have another look at the bump stop area and get back to you. In the mean time, any suggestions for renewing the ally and rubber mountings for the scuttle?, mine are shot.
  16. Thanks gents. Forgot to say, the drain plug hole is really blocked up. I have hand drilled in carefully but still got no water through. I am leaving some caustic soda in the block up to core plug level to try and help clear it, any other tips?
  17. Thanks Richard. Do you happen to know the correct size for replacement plugs, and best place to get them? Paul.
  18. Hi All. I have got 2 core plugs gone on my MW restoration, and also a leak at the back of the block, hidden by the bell housing. As I dont yet have a workshop manual, can someone tell me if there is a core plug here too?. Also behind the drain tap was well and truly clogged up. I have carefully drilled through the sludge, but still no water so guess the jacket is rather blocked. Any recommendations to clean it through. Will post some more pics on my restoration thread soon! Paul.
  19. Hi all, seasons greetings. Pic below as requested by rippo, of chassis where wing bolts on. Also pic of nearly completed dashboard.
  20. Good luck with your quest. I have always liked MW's and was lucky to get one to restore recently, (see my resto thread). I havent driven mine yet (obviously), in fact I havent even steered it! But I love it already. Also the help on here is fantastic! :-)
  21. Hi John, will sort a pic of the chassis. Thanks for posting the picture, I do wonder if my front panel was changed at rebuild. It leaves me wondering how to finish it, the headlights arent a great issue as they will be covered by a bridge plate and headlamp mask most of the time, it came with a nice pair of small WD sidelights complete with masks to reduce to regulation 1" lense, seems a shame not to use them! Quick question, the Bedford badge on the dash with chassis number on, is yours original or are repros available?
  22. Strip down has begun. Wiring loom and front end all off.
  23. Just a quick update. She runs! For the first tim in around 30 years, after cleaning the points, with fuel gravity fed to the carb she fired up and ran quite nicely!
  24. Thanks sparky, any chance of some pics? Will pm my email if thats ok - Also to John (Rippo).
