  1. If you let me have the address I could pop round in a Waitrose artic laden with enough goodies to keep us going for weeks.
  2. Good find, if your 12 litre T develops 300 the the 16 litre T would theoretically give 400 all things being equal. It could be that the 8T was de-rated due to torsional vibration problems with such a long crank. Do they use a charge cooler of any kind?
  3. My mistake Mike, the GR7 is the normal Atlantic. For some reason the 6TFL in Antar is rated at 300 but 275 in the Scammell Super Constructor. The 6SFL is as you say 250.
  4. Was GR7 available with both C8SFL and C8TFL? Various sites quote 335 and 366 BHP which is correct for the two engines. Wiki even have a pic for what it is worth which shows the SFL:
  5. 10 stud 11.00x20 if on singles, 8 stud 9.00x20 all round with twin rears for recovery or heavy duty use.
  6. That's impressive Adrian, however long did it take to drill those holes? I'm guessing that is 2" m/s plate with 3/4" rivets??
  7. Chain and sprockets would only work if the pump is reversible like the gearbox one. Somehow I don't think it is as high speeds in reverse are not possible. Don't forget, Pioneer never used a pump with a similar set up.
  8. Old hat really, Porsche developed 2 similar systems, Landwehr and C train many years before. http://www.hybrid-vehicle.org/hybrid-vehicle-landwehr.html
  9. Some great photos there, keep them coming. Remind me about the underlift, was it raised by the crane rather than it's own hydraulics?
  10. Note the obligatory method of counterbalancing the Foden when opening a cab door.:-D
  11. I work for a premium supermarket chain; if the warehouse drop a case it gets condemned and sent up to the canteen where we can buy 100g bars of Lindt, Green & Blacks etc for 20p each. It is very rare to find a broken bar and I usually keep a stock at home of 60 or so! We also get the monthly selection from Hotel Chocolate. No allergy worries as yet....
  12. I read it as having a Rolls V12 not the Leyland and I doubt there are many of those available.
  13. From my previous post: >On the SOMA axles used on the S26, the crownwheel/pinion gear sets can be between 35x7 and 27x20. The hubs are about 4:1 while the overall axle ratio would be about 7:1 for medium duty work up to about 100 tons.< The half shaft is clearly shown in post 14, item 12, and is splined to accept the sun gear rather than having a drive flange. The crown wheel, pinion and half shaft are similar to a conventional axle but lighter duty as the torque is produced at the hubs. The highest overall reduction would use the 35/7 cw/p to give a 5:1 which multiplied by the 4:1 hubs gives 20:1. This would be used on something like a site dumper or yard crane operating at low speeds while at the other end of the scale the 27/20 cw/p gives an overall ratio of about 4.8:1 suitable for 70mph.
  14. Here you go, typical Albion layout. Halfshaft 12 drives the sun gear 10. The annulus wheel 21 is held stationary on the axle case by anchor gear 35 The driving flange 13 and planet carrier 20 are driven by 4 planet gears 18 which are located by pins 15 fixed to the planet carrier 20 The gear ratio is the ratio of teeth on the sun gear to the teeth on the annulus wheel, the planet gears are purely idlers.
  15. On the SOMA axles used on the S26, the crownwheel/pinion gear sets can be between 35x7 and 27x20. The hubs are about 4:1 while the overall axle ratio would be about 7:1 for medium duty work up to about 100 tons. I can scan a good picture from the manual when I get home.
  16. Did you ever see it? It was capable of of carrying a 60 ton MBT:shocked:, but I didn't have my camera with me when we were there to get the Explorer running for them.
  17. So what would be the worst case for a MV?? Conqueror? The wheeled LC with 4x10 litre Cummins engines at the Griffin Trust? Any others...
  18. As I understand it, if used laden even not for hire and reward you must now adhere to driver's hours regulations. The stumbling block is the weekly rest of 45 hours, reduceable to 24 hours every other week, so that if you do any work for 6 days a week there is no way you can drive to and from a show on a Sunday.
  19. If this is correct: JSU 704 (94 BD 08) Daisy Andy Fowler, Meadows Petrol , then it should indeed be 51/52 according to other info I have. 50BD00 to 99BD99 ran from 51/52 as far as I am aware, BP would have been 54/55. More research needed as I note yours is a 'mk2'.
  20. Hope this is not a re-post but came across this while searching for a number. http://www.mafva.net/other%20pages/VRNARMY.doc
