  1. I totally agree with decauville's sentiments exactly. I use kiln dried sand from BnQ, its around 4quid a bag, and half a bag did the full gearbox into every nook and cranny ! Blow of with an air line, prime straight away. I did a full engine last week with same result !
  2. Then finish in whatever colour is required. I didn't take a pic with the shiny new discs attached, should have done to show completion.
  3. If it is practical, give it two coats of primer.
  4. Better to get a coat of primer on it straight after blasting.
  5. I have yet to find something as good as sandblasting that will give a 'brand new' finish in such a short time. I will try to take some pics of the blasters i use to give you an idea. I recently refurbed a gearbox for a friend. It took 30 mins to get back to metal, 30 mins to etch prime. Next day two coats of engine blue. Job done, all in all, 3 hours.
  6. Here Here ! Keep the photos coming. Excellent work. Indeed AWESOME !
  7. There are some good FV439 photos here if you need them. https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/wwwfv432couk/439-radio-relay-photos-t168.html There are a few others if you take a look around. Inspirational modeling ! by the way.
  8. Sorry forgot to mention, The above pic is 42A towing 42B down saddams highway. 42C is not in this photo. The sappers were issued with three CET's, as a rule there was only ever two running. Give her some TLC and she will be fine. you may find the throttle cable on the operators side sticks a bit, usually when you get her up to full chat ! The call signs should still be stuck to the inside of the drivers hatch cover.
  9. Well done. I so wanted to buy it, but sadly it went past my budget. I have some pics for you. You can have this one. I will PM you in order to send them in higher quality. the other pics i will need to speak to the vehicle commander, and get his permission. Yours is 42A, did you get the A.L.A. from the auction to go with it ? the original A.L.A. that was issued to that vehicle is buried in Kuwait. I do have the coordinates if you want to go dig it up ? probably not i guess. Yours was one of the first vehicles to cross the Kuwait, Iraq border. It took down the anti tank mound and pushed it into the anti tank ditch behind it, two challies were then trying to get through the gap at the same time. I will tell you more via email or PM. Once again, well done.
  10. The above was 42A towing either charlie or bravo down saddams highway ! Whoever buys the CET at the heywood auction, i have in service photos
  11. check under then paint to see if you can find a 42 (B) or (C)
  12. Whereabouts are you. what day does it arrive
  13. Its a while since i have worked on these vehicles, but i think the road registered one had the dial sight. Internal fittings are 'mostly' present, but missing gun rules. Let me know if there is anything else you need to know.
  14. Same Abbot climbing a berm. Good luck.
  15. Here is a brief video of the Abbot and the 432. Hope it helps. Regards Dale
  16. Hi Hammer, Welcome aboard. None of the above vehicles are out of the question ! I have two saracens, FV610 and FV603, once you get them right, they are easy to maintain, tax free, mot free and £95 a year, fully comp insurance. Bits are easy to get. I just had an engine in one of them, relined, pistons etc runs like brand new. The MPG is nowhere near a prius, but who cares ! Go for it ! get a sarry ! Give me a shout if you need any help.
  17. I just wanted to quote the third sentence. I felt it was a very accurate description of our 'betters' ? Well said
  18. What vehicle is the hood for. I do have some wartime canvas.
  19. If it is the bow gun muzzle cover for a sherman you are looking for, i have some.
  20. I got very good service from TDM Electronics in Poland. I was a bit wary at first, but they very quickly dispatched two Racal VRM 5080's and all necessary ancillaries. Which turned up two days early and all in working order. Also, for what i thought, was cheap ! I have only dealt with them twice, both times it has gone well, maybe i just got lucky !
