  1. A friend, John Greffield, seen leaning on the Bedford, has kindly let me post these pics of his time in Gibraltar on here. He had a lot more, including many of their Explorer, but they where given away. He said their Corporal always insisted on driving the Explorer, his favorite trick was to drive new chaps to the docks at night and park with the passenger side right on the very edge of the dock, he would order the others out and wait for the splashes, apparently a few fell for it!
  2. Came across this, may be useful. The material specified was used by the S.U Carburetter Company for military installations in the 1980s, where a guaranteed fail safe operation was critical. Due to the close link between S.U and AMAL today (both owned by Burlen Fuel Systems Ltd), the secret behind the material has been released and upgraded for the manufacture of this float, making it virtually unsinkable. The Viton tipped float needle valve offers unrivaled protection against modern ethanol based fuels whilst ensuring a superior seal compared to metal tipped versions. http://www.sucarb.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=33997
  3. Brilliant pix Paul, I would very much like to have seen (and heard) that.
  4. Mud? Forrest?...Where there's a will there's a way..we have every faith in you! Get round there and pull it out, your diff has enough life in it to do that..and plenty more!
  5. Well done Antony! Having seen it arrive a rusty heap at Mayhem and thought to myself 'Hmm, it'll be a few years before before that reappears from the shed', I have to say I am truly impressed buy the result of what seems to be so much quality work in so short a time!
  6. Overheard Ardingly show Member of public, rummaging through a crate full of Petter type silencers, says to stall holder "Have you got any more of these Honda silencers? mines different" S H...."I haven't got any Honda silencers" MOP...."Well it says Honda on the crate!" SH, absolutely dead pan...."Oh but I have got a load of Sainsburys ones over there, one of them might fit..."
  7. Dunno what ever made you think that.......Have you been hacking my mobile phone Darren?....there's gonna be be trouble! It was there on test by HMVF's own tame test to destruction driver....The Squaddie..:-D
  8. All looking very good Rob, just a suggestion, probably too late now, but what about a living/sleeping box with a Hiab behind it? Would make it a very useful tool.
  9. Just leave it for a while, I felt the same after so many times being towed home with broken petrol lumps, didn't go near it for over a year!
  10. The front box and bumper bar are from it's commercial days and the rear body was not there, as it was being kept in a showman's yard at the time, Edward was heavily influenced in that style when he built the new body and fittings, he does propper work with it, even recovered a complete funfair tractor and road train back home. So all done for a good reason. So don't knock what you don't understand. :pfrt:
  11. Updates coming soon chaps, sorry been a bit busy lately..
  12. How about the helicopter field early evening?
  13.:rofl::rofl:Oh how I would love to see that!
  14. Edward took Forceful for a good long drive, his face was aching!
  15. 26/#43 BSJ 271 Edward Colins, Cummins L10 ................:coffee: Just one drive of Forceful and he had to go for Cummins power..:drive:...its infectious!
  16. Is using the usual oil bath air filter fitted to British MVs with a modern high power turbo diesel a good idea? Thinking increased air flow could lead to the oil being lifted and so cause the engine to burn it and run away. Where there any improvements like paper filters fitted in them?
  17. A rivet counter is someone who is obsessed with every minute detail of a vehicle, and whos first words to the owner will always include, never, didn't, weren't, that's wrong, shouldn't be, bla bla bla. They almost never have a vehicle of their own but may have seen pictures in books but not noticed the writing! :nut:
  18. Nice work Nick.........much better than mine!
  19. Well that's a relief Robert, no stopping you now...:yay:
  20. Always assumed that the size of the pulley it has to run round to reach the front is smaller than the normal snatch bock ones and could damage the rope? I've seen lot of bent front fairleads too.
  21. Good luck and enjoy, :drive: Keep that master copy safe, it's no good your grand children turning up on Antiques Roadshow with a faded down-loaded jpg. :embarrassed:
  22. Great pix Gordon, turning up at a show with that Jeep would start a lively discussion amongst the rivet counters!
  23. Picasa is good but does not allow hotinking to forums, unless it has changed since I last tried.
