  1. Yes, that is the one and only Troy Tempest, but I've absolutely no idea who the enemy is
  2. If you want to see one in action, check out The longest Hundred Miles - a 1967 film starring Doug Mclure and Katherine Ross. He plays a marine washed ashore on a Philippine island, who is persuaded to get running an old bus with a gas producer to convey a group of orphans on a long drive away from the grasp of the Japs.
  3. The cane trash was called Bagasse, the fibrous residue left once the cane had been crushed and sugar extracted - and I'm sure this was used in gas producer vehicles too.
  4. ?? If it doesn't need an mot I can't see that you would need an mot for first registration. I'm just about to register a s/h, but previously unregistered, loading shovel. That is mot exempt, and there is no facility to mot it, so how would that work? I should be able to do it because it is of a type which is mot exempt. ?? It may be different for road-going car or truck-derived vehicles but can anyone point us to the legislation / guidance indicating so?
  5. There's a phrase I haven't heard for quite a while. What are those m/c guns then?
  6. Never mind the latest LEZ legislation - I think ADA would fall foul of the 1956 CLEAN AIR ACT!!!!
  7. There's fresh - and there's fresh! Some NOS diaphragms I've seen are ok, but some have become very hard with long shelf life, and I would expect their working life to be compromised as a result. New new ones are still available from USA through distributors of BENDIX brake gear.
  8. Isn't this form only for first registration? You should find that once a vehicle has been taxed as exempt, the tax renewal merely requires you to put a X in the 'mot exempt' box. This way the responsibility is yours alone to ensure the exemption remains valid when taxing the vehicle.
  9. Just been having a mooch about the ethernet and this seems to be the best overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasogen
  10. Fascinating find - is the intention to leave it as a wood fuel burner?
  11. I've seen your file  Best invest in a Great War trenchcoat.
  12. And if you don't pay your bar bill within 4 weeks you'll find your Clubhouse car park permit is invalidated! Oh well, that's automated systems for you
  13. Got any commission for me? :cool2:
  14. I think the integrity of your initial post speaks for itself  Thanks for letting us know the outcome.
  15. And as a corporate promotion, how about a search for the oldest pair of HMVF overalls still in regular use?
  16. OK - so exactly how many parking space permits are you going to need for the HMVF Clubhouse?
  17. 彼らはカニ釣り、アンディですか? Translated means 'Are they crab fishing, Andy?'
  18. I remember that, but can't find it either. I know Richard Farrant put a post on it.
  19. Wow - The USAF museum at Dayton, Ohio. After only a few minutes I need to find the cafe for a coffee! Excellent site

Great! Please post a picture in the Vehicle Names and Cab Art thread
  21. Wing a pm to Grasshopper or Rosco - they've been using one regularly and I'm sure would advise.
  22. Andy - I've just done as Richard recommended, but feel free to re-instate if you wish!
  23. Then again - if they had cast the whitemetal direct into the con rod using a core dowel the same dia. as crank pin it would be exactly the same as Burt Lancaster's French set-up (minus the adjustability for wear using cotter). :???
