  1. I know you only need 4 lengths, but this company in Germany has a lot of PSP; http://www.etp-trade.de/products.html
  2. Hi Tim, Just been talking to a friend in Australia, who met a jeep parts dealer today. Seems he has been in discussions with these people and has some on order at present. I understand they may also be doing gearbox casings as well. regards, Richard
  3. I understood it that a Panda represented friendly non-aggressive as they were a UK training division and never went into combat.
  4. John, I have DEFSTAN books for 1963 and 1991 and can find no OX-24, maybe details off the can will help, inc a NSN. Sure it is not PX-24 ?
  5. It was not me but radiomike7 who mentioned V8's, but they are different in that they do have 8 lobes on the cam. I mentioned examples of straight six and eight cylinder engines with dual points and 3 and 4 lobe cams respectively, here are a list off the top of my head, of military ones; Rolls Royce B60 (6 cyl) and B80/B81 (8 cyl) [military and civilian versions] Jaguar J60 (6cyl) [4.2 litre ohc] Daimler Dingo and Armoured Car (different engines) WW2 Humber armoured vehicles with screened dist. (6cyl sv) Bedford QLR and MWR with screened distributor (6 cyl 28hp) Austin K9 with screened distributor (6 cyl 4-litre) Commer Q4 with screened distributor (6 cyl ohv) too name but a few ..........
  6. Pete, It would seem you are thinking too deeply. There are thousands of 6 cylinder engines running with single sets of points without issues. What the most important thing to adhere to is keeping the points adjusted to the specified gap for the that engine or distributor type.
  7. Terry, Shallow fording would not show up a leak in rear or side doors, you would need to go in over the tyres to prove this. The boatyard would not have been very deep water, the River Nene is nothing like the Murray!
  8. Bob, This was what I was thinking of, only 3 screw holes though. http://www.cocklestorm.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/800x/040ec09b1e35df139433887a97daa66f/g/a/galvanised-wire-hasp-staple.jpg

  10. Hi Bob, Not knowing what vehicle this is for, I have to say, it looks like the sort of hasp you might find at B&Q ( or other DIY stores).
  11. It was equipped with Vigilant missiles, hence the need for the rotating gear.
  12. Also those distributors like for example on Rolls military B60, B80, B81 and Jaguar J60, wartime British vehicles with certain screened distributors (inc. Daimlers) have two sets of points with half the number of cam lobes, and one set of points operating half the number of cylinders. regards, Richard
  13. Sorry Rob, I thought I was replying to Tamber, and only realised it was to you when I looked again later. cheers Richard
  14. As the wheel cylinder is outboard on the RL rear axle, it is more likely the contamination is the hub oil seal leaking, not much else it could be. I would renew it while you are at this point.
  15. Bradford Kendall Ltd cast the Sentinel hull
  16. Hi Stefan, I recollect a good few years ago you brought a tank over to the War & Peace show at Beltring, was it this Renault NC 27 ? I cannot find my photos to be sure. best regards, Richard
  17. Jim, I rebuilt a B61 recently and it had normal circlips, you need a good pair of circlip pliers as they are apt to slip off if a bit worn.
  18. Hi John, My thoughts are that the original low-line version was done as you say, for airborne reasons, and with a low centre of gravity would have handled better when towed I guess ....... but for practical reasons such as maintenance after the war, it may well have had the generator unit raised. Only way to find out would be to locate documents for this piece of equipment such as modification instruction. They would be in an EMER Eng. & Misc. I think. As REME Museum has recently moved, I don't know if they still have comprehensive library of EMER's from the distant past. What they might have, being one of their bits of kit, would be photos of them in use and that might give a timeline on when this was done. Another point, it might be from a different contract to your other Welding trailer? regards, Richard
  19. The oil in planetary hub can run through to outer tracta housing, believe me, I have rebuilt countless ones, there is no physical seal in there. Treat all three levels as separate items to ensure you have the correct level in each. Failure of bevel box/inner tracta is often because people make the mistake of pushing oil in the level plug and when it globs back out, thinking it is full. I use a grease pump container filled with gear oil and a long thin copper pipe that can be inserted right in and allow the air to escape.
  20. Hi Tony, Just wondering if either valve timing or ignition timing is out, possibly the latter as you have a spark and no bang. regards, Richard
  21. I thought that is what it was, and why I said Interior Lamp ............... got a stack of these still wrapped as well!
  22. Are they the correct glowplugs? A friend bought some off Ebay, supposed to be for a 90 Diesel, it would not start. I checked the numbers and they were for a Ford car. He then bought some from a dealer and started straight away.
