  3. When my son was born I had a Land Rover Safari, in fact as he was born premature he missed being born in it by about ten minutes. I fitted a Britax bar that was designed for estate cars across the back. This was first used for the carrycot then the child seat.

  6. Thanks Jack, so to pick futher, what sort of subsitue could you get away with? Is Ash still grown commercially in UK?
  7. Jack will proably be able to give chapter and verse, but as I understnd it the Ash has a tight straight grain that makes it flexible.
  8. It is the food, forage one I wanted to make sure of, making a couple of copies of ration boxes. Sorry to spoli it all but I'm a Garabaldi man myself. A life of following the mushy fly.
  9. The favourite wood seems to be Ash. A great number of cabs and bodywork also seemed to use wood and metal. Rebuliding the WS10 the Ash would have come out prohibitivley expensive. Fortunatley for this job we have been able to get away using treated soft wood.
  10. Ah! So you've heard of the militant London buses then? :-D There were a number of Urals at Coulsdon at one time including a missile transport and some GAZ at Pottern island. The PI ones all disapperead following contretemps betwen the leaser and MOD. Does anyone know what happned to them? I nearly lost a load of kit over that.
  11. Must have been a hell of a job flying a tanker full of fuel through the corridors. Coal was flown which caused a nightmare when dust got into the control lines etc. Salt was flown in the belly of Sunderlands to the lakes of Berlin, apparently because the hull could resisit salt unlike normal land aircraft.
  12. Thanks Clive it was the Ace of Clubs I wanted to confirm.
  13. Nothing gets the CSA down more than just constanly asking questions and disagreing with them. 13 out of 14 complaints totally upheld, the last partially. My resolutions , do as many useful things as I possibly can.

  19. Something, literally of the back of a cornflake packet, is muttering in the back of the mind that the triangle was used as a mark of quality back in the Middle ages. As an aside does anyone have the list of the suit of card marks for military stores?
