  2. I've only ever seen reference to the diagonal bar on the service arm square in connection with ammo carrying.
  3. should be on the reciver somewhere. Then the bolt or any other moving part. Crossed swords with DA either horizontal, Birmingham if I rember right, or vertical. There should also be two figures, that's the date of de activation. You may also haver civillian original proof marks. Though if it came straight from military may not have them. There should also be some inspector marks somewhere.

  10. Knowing the rust trap the cab can be. Might not be a bad idea to remove it and get into the nooks and crannies anyway. Got the clutch to do on one as a winter job. Any tips?
  11. The current MVT Green sheet has an atricale on Maudlin. A lot of his humour would fit the Army today of any country.
  12. spoke to a QL owner today. His advice for any major work is to remove cab. If you look under front of cab at each side you will see bolts held through springs. There si a third in a triangle at the back. that plus steering cab comes off.

Good old AOL. I'm currently using Google Chrome for the forum. Spell checker even works!
  14. Have a look at the dodge Forum, the list of numbers are there. Early 1942 would be my guess. There were a lot built in what would even now be considered very short time.
  15. Welcome along, the old 2a are getting rare now.
  16. Originally Lucifer was a trade mark. Came in to english usuage.
  17. That is an early chassi number.
  18. It is similar to Comma Freeze but seems a lot more effective. http://www.normfest.com As for Comma or this stuff working on bigger bolts. 22 and 24mm big enough? Yes it did work. I was using it on the long bolts through the rear supension parts on a 110 Landy.
  19. About thirty years ago I'm sure they had a Spit and hurricanes as well.

They are reputed to be able to take a hell of a lot of punishment. The engine design is supposed to minimise FOD. Just fly round in circles. :-D
  21. Oh Lord, another one! What is it about Scammel's? You will have plenty of like minded souls here.
  22. We now have a couple of these tins. Came from friend's in Normandy. If you want dimensions I'll get them.
  23. A stuff I've just discovered yesterday made by Normfest. Described as an ice and rust dissolver. Toquote 'Super crack dissolves firmly bonded screw connections in an energy effececintly and non destrcutivley within a few minutes'. I tried it today on the most ***** bound up load leveler on an heap of ** old 110 Landy. This thing had defied heat hammers and abuse for two full days. Sprayed on super crack, had a cup of tea first sharp tap it just cracked apart. http://www.normfest.de/cms/wm?catId=10189

Many moons ago they also use to play over the Larkhill anti tank ranges. Try sitting on a horse when one comes in at minus feet! Fortunatley the horses involved were litterally 'Tank' and 'Bomb' proof. :-D
