  1. Welcome Benji, come along down.
  2. DON' T DO THIS ALONE. Six hours stuck with your ankles round your ears can cause back problems.
  3. http://www.itnsource.com/shotlist//BHC_RTV/1944/06/29/BGU409160005/ This one 44 seconds in. The guys with minesweepers and the two soldiers gaurding. Surley there has to be a NAFFI wagon in there somewhere?
  4. Hi Mike, Heraldary and technology! That's a fair spread of history and subjects. You are very welcome
  5. So it appears to be a right Humgrumit. I'm still plumping for a 1931. They were fitted to the Char B tank, which were sent to the Islands. See other thread. a close inspection of a better picture shows two holes above pistol grip that would fit a wire stock. The shape of the pistol grip, and I'm a stubborn S8D! :-D (And all this from about three seconds of clip)
  6. Welcome Mike! Experience and advice is always welcome here.
  7. I noticed the odd MG. Possibly a French Chatelleraut MLE 1924 1924/29 . A lot were taken the Islands, and yes they were based on the BAR. Or just to be awkward, it may be the Hotchkiss 1922. Change mind AGAIN! The shape of the pistol grip being curved, it a Chattelleraut 1931. This one had a 150 shot drum magazine. It was intended for fixed defences, especially the Maginot line. The wire stock appears to be a Germnan modification.
  8. In Jersey the landing of HM was the old steps on the Albert Quay, where the Vega memeorial is now. The old Imigration building was there til about 1980. The Airport Terminal, then one of the best airports in the world, originally opned 1937, is still mostly the same. Without digging up books I think the visit was in the August of 1945. Will be going through the terminal on Monday, wish for once I wasn't.
  9. Thanks Steve, missed the A. Your right about PCO's there is one lot near Croydon who are red hot! They have a good Seargent who uses them properly, and gives them good back up. They have made a big diffrence to anti social behaviour. The local lot are about much use as a BMW in a swamp!
  10. The other classic, variously attributed Station: I'm F*****G bored! Master station: Station sending identify yourself immidiatley! Station: I said I'm F****g bored, not F*****G stupid!
  11. Under English law P.A.C.E 1984 Section 24 Any person has the power of arrest, providing the critera are met. I have friends in London Ambulance Service. Some of the violence they have to deal with is unbelvable! Mind you so are some of the methods they employ to sooth troubled patients!
  12. They can also be very understanding. I had a vehicle I'd just bought for restoration and was parked outside untaxed. The local enforcement team told me I had a week to get it taxed or out of the way.
  13. Round here the also add a BIG yellow clamp round a wheel and a large UNTAXED VEHICLE sticker on the windscreen. In earleir days Iused to earn my living as a bailliff. Parking tickets and unpaid vehicle excise fines could lead to some great fun!
  14. Would wish you Happy Birthday but can't find the required NATO requisition form!
  15. I'll lay a case of custard creams that a mobile phone is involved in there somewhere! OR (Risking Rosie's wrath!) She had the sat nav upside down!
  16. Tax checking cameras are a regular thing round here. Normal accompanied by a row of Transit vans and pick ups parked up on the verge and a lot of Police officers.:cool2:
  17. Best one I've heard in a long time! :-D
  18. Basically , yes. There are three securing points two at front one at back.

No you've got it right. But when your planting twenty vergess of Jersey Royals, more than egg boxes are needed! :-D Knock off one sprout, the spud panics and produces a lot more, hence more spuds. They were also graded by size the large one s planted first. Jersey Royals should be planted in sand fertillised by Vraick, dried seaweed, that way they develop no lumps or a thick skin. The other ideal place are south facing Cotils, these are the steep valley sides, and I mean STEEP! The old way of ploughing used to throw a single furrow plough over the top and winch up. One old farmer had a Series 1 88 with a pto winch on the back speciffically for the job. The proper ones have a nutty tatse, and a cheese like texture NEVER fry! Always wash, never peel! Boil till just soft, best Jersey Butter and sea salt. We also used to glean for the ones to small to sell, naturally those are the best tasting!

Picking spuds after school! :-D Hapy memories of being with my Mother, she used to chit spuds and pack flowers part time during the seasons . Now how many are going to ask what Chitting spuds is? :cool2:
  21. :??? How do you find a camouflaged vehicle? Mind you I parked a NATO green Landy in a feild one night. I found it, eventually, by walking into it. Had five stiches in the forehead as a result!
  22. Welcome (Show off!) That is a very nice little toy you have there.
