  1. Had a load of alloy wheels and a couple of old gearboxes stolen from our yard in the last few weeks! Comes of living in Pickey central.
  2. Some years ago there was rumour of a crated Griffin engine in a scrap yard at Chelsfeild Kent. Unfortunatley the yard is now under a load of expensive houses. What wa sthe old description? A million parts rattling in close formation. Love the old ladies, they were a regular sight over the Channel Islands when I was kid.
  3. I could buy a dozen Series 3 for that! Might even get a couple of decent ones out of them!
  4. Nice to see horse drawn vehiclles treated with due respect.
  5. Are you going to rename her 'Christine'?:-D
  6. I was told a stupid thing: Which works! Plug the end of an air compressor hose into the fuel cap opening with rags, apply pressure. Then open injectors and turn engine over till disiel comes through. Alternative tow the **** at high speed!
  7. Intresting little proggrame on the inventor of Digital Sound, and the Obo radar system. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00zs7v5/Genius_Unrecognised_Digital_Sound
  8. Wasn't it Glastron designed and built them?
  9. Luckily, he seems to take mostly after his Mother! No moment like it is there Mike?
  10. Blimey another one down! Congratulations!
  11. A lot of liberated kit was used up to very recently. The 1 meter wind tunnel used to test Concorde. There is a Luftwaffe over head crane at one establishment. There was also a German wind tunnel disgused as a barn. The roof lifted when the tunnel was in use, I think that went to Farnbourough. It is probable one of two 50mm automatic mortars taken from Jersey went to Fort Halstead. Forerunner of the A.G.L.?
  12. So the anti smocking brigade were at it even then! :-D Intresting though, same sort of attitude as the current Army Saftey magazines. Intrestingly it was only during and post Great War that cigaretes became the fashion. Though I do remember Navy Duty Free Blue Liners in 1972
  13. Anyone know when the habit of the British Army being allowed to smoke a pipe when marching stopped?
  14. It's one of those Generic designs. Still about, very useful tools.
  15. Oh Gary! You have now opened up the sales patter. Not that you need to go futher than a good Dodge WC51 ( That's the one WITHOUT the ball of string on the front)
  16. See 'Unwelcome visitor thread'. Selling of the National Assests.
  17. One, get registration of a vehicle, Two, phone 999 in hysterics claim vehicle cut you up as it was turning in and the driver waved what looked like a handgun at you. Three, Sit back and watch the fun. I had to serve papers on a traveller camp once. The spokes ape got all indignant because the entrance to the feild had got chopped and muddy 'You'd 'fink the owner would put down some stone!' As the owner was standing behind me with the Police (Luckily, I saw a definite restraning hand) I suggested The Owner would be more than happy to bring down a Bulldozer to help them out. A very well known demolition contractor was waitng out side a yard that traveller's had camped on. As the Twelve o'clock deadline for depature was reached he ordered all his trucks to start dumping rubble into the entrance. That was a fun afternoon!
  18. Congratulations! Best wishes to Mum and Dad!
