  1. That's EU, unlike us the French use the EU when they feel like it! Particullaly round Normandy there is local legilation covering military vehicles and kit. Ouisterham has a prticullaly 'Keen' Chef de Douane. It seems to be his lifes ambition to make MV owners life a misery.
  2. It is down to paperwork. We are taking two 25 lbs to Tilly and there is one coming from belgium. The local Maries (Town halls) in France have a lot of power. So the right paperwork from the Mayor of where your going.
  3. Good Idea. Thanks David.
  4. Strip wood work first though. Is the rifle de-ac or live? Makes a diffrence with re-assembly as the bedding matters if its live.
  5. Plus lots of machine gun and 37mm turrets! These were mounted on various fortifications all round the Island's. Funny enough the most prolific anti tank gun seems to ne the Ex Checz 4.7mm.
  6. Best bet, the BIGGEST mirrors you can find to get to and from, add period on showground. Clip on trailer/caravan mirors are useful.
  7. St Heler hospital at Carsholton had traces of camo on it up until a few years back. Where it sits on the hill you can se it from the top of Empress Sate Building in west London. Apparently it was white and the idea was to camouflage it so that it could not be used as a navigation aid by the Luftwaffe.
  8. Thank you all. I appreciate your thoughts. Yes Nigel, Carol was a nursing sister, hence the ambulance. The kit in the back was constantly being added to. I just aquired the NHSR helmet for her.
  9. The best thing is to try freeing it of first. Wrap the sight in a rag soaked in three in one oil. Don't be tempted to use anything like WD40 it knackers the wood. What you have is a SMLE No1 these are the gurus: http://www.leeenfieldrifleassociation.org.uk/ Looking at the picture ther appears to be a lot of old varnish/Cosmoline. A cotton bud used to judisoly apply nail varnish remover might free it up. No sibn of volley sight so probably a Rifle N0 1 Mk 111* These were used up to about 1945. Though with a SMLE never say never. The old guns are still going.
  10. Thanks Degsey. Carol came over for open heart surgery last year to London. We decided then that Katy will go straight to my son Tom.Just totally stunned at the moment.
  11. As you all know Dodges are the light of my life. Today one light went out. Carol Le Marquand who owned the WC54 Katy died suddenly this morning. Katy will be coming over to the UK in the next few months as Carol has left her to me. If ever there was a vehicle I didn't want to own.
  12. If you are invoking the Great Sir Terry! Then surley Rincewind's battle cry 'Sterecus, strecus stericus, Mortis Sum'. Who gives a flying, anyway! No pockets in a shroud!.
  13. RAMC used KD64's and some WC54's in Korea. 51 and 52 were used in Burma. Have aphoto will post later Dodges are a bit touchy for me just at the moment.
  14. It is said that the first words said by a man when the camera was invented were: 'Right Love, get your kit off!' The original concept of the TANK was 'What can we crush with it?'
  15. Also on the CIOS and http://www.thisisjersey.co.uk/hmd/ The guns themselsves were painted as well.
  16. How many prisoners were relased from the Bastille Two wasn't it?
  17. There is an even earlier picture of a MkIV about to crush a car. Anyone know where it is?
