1. And smartglue. Trouble is it is difficult, though not impossible to fit to a vehicle. It was fitted to buses in Glasgow, following a lot of voilent incidents.
2. There were a number of captured vehicles in Jersey, later restored to British ownership. :-D
3. In the case of IMPS, if you are a member, take a lot of photos and a rubbing of the chassis number then contact the vehicle oficer.
4. To be placed on the PNC (Police National Computer) an item must have a fixed unique identifier. So chassis number or as said the dot system. You can engrave your own marks on the componets, best to have photos etc of marks. UV glow paint is also a useful tool. Dots can also be mixed into paint and sprayed on, trouble is you need a microscope to read them.
5. You'd need the Panorama setting! :-D Must be a hell of a weight, is it cotton cnvas or man made?
6. Effective? VERY!! I know a car that was stolen when the owner went in to pay for fuel. He phoned Tracker immidiatley and it was stopped two nicked and vehicle returned all within twenty minutes. As to other comments why can't the local pondlife be 'Proffesional'? They get enough practice. Might Jack approach Traker and see if advice/deals are available?
7. I'll take the Dodge anytime over a Series 3! If the SWB was based on the Jeep, just look under a LWB Land Rover and see where that comes from! I'd go for a Humber, much more refined
8. That's what I do with my 6 volt battries, series them and stick a 12 volt charger on at an intial 8 amps. Modern 6 volt chargers just don't seem able to cope with a lead acid big 6 volt. Once you have the whole system warmed up it will drop back to 2 amp charging though. Get a Hygometer, much more use than a meter to give you a true idea of the battries state, and only a couple of quid.
9. How about 105mm skeet shooting? :cool2:
10. Is that 400m , vertically? Reverse diving, from the sunk vehicle up and out as fast as you can. A Miltary version of eventing, with tracked vehicles. The cross country should be a doodle. The dressage , fairly easy with neuteral turns etc, the showjumping phase could be fun though. I've just had veeery scary thoughts about TTM and Grasshopper going in for weight lifting.
11. Hey wave the flag, why don't you? I used to drive a mate's C8, he learnt to drive on my WC51, and is now flying jets. I really do prefer the 51's driving position and general handaling. The 54 is nice, it has doors wind down windows and even a heater! So I'm going to persevere with that in my decripitude, and let Number One Son tough it out, sometimes, if I think he can be truted with Precioooous! At the time Britian still had a superb rail system. Freight moved in bulk and was then only delivered by vehicle locally. U.S.A. has big open spaces so stuff had to be bulked by truck, hence there designs were light years ahead. I am 6 foot and have size 10 boots, the pedals in the C8 are tight but managable, and on the later ones are in the right place. Bear in mind that despite Hollywood, the avaerage GI was a lot shorter, so was Tommy. The vehicles were designed for the average then. I'll stick to mey Dodges. The CMP FAT is a palace compared to the Quad, you can hold a party inside one.
12. Sycronised sledge hammer beating. With extra points awarded for vocabulary. For the strength events,9 x16 tyre bead breacking. Swing on the tyre lever. For endurance, Holding the gear box in position whilst trying to get the hidden nut on. For gymnastics getting under a Dodge dashboard to rewire.
13. I have a Ring smart charger with a reconditioning setting. Works well, but depends on the state of the battery. Good genral purpose charger though.
14. Welcome Tom, you'll be bombarded with advice any time now.
15. Rather than just water, have a weak mixture of washing soda/water standing by, it is an alkaline.
16. Welcome Roger. Nice to know the old guns have an international following.
17. I've never found it that bad. The gale over the top half of the doors is usually sufficent cooling. :-D
18. Now you know why I drive a Dodge! The Morris isn't to bad on smooth ground, but on anything uneven they are murder on the back, your bum slides around and you get friction burns. The other thing is at least for me the position of the pedals are offset. On some of the very Early Quads the acelerator pedal is in the middle, that requires a lot of concentration. Functionaly they are not bad, they tow a 25 pounder and limber well enough and can deal with a full load. As for silouete, the Dodge stripped down has better seats and driving position, and the lower overall height.
19. Your her Dad! You have the advantage! I may be stupid, but not THAT stupid! :-D
20. Welcome along. Most of the Champ experts are still a bed , but will be in soon.
21. More odd bits hanging off whatever I could find! So that's where it went! I'd parked it in reception!
22. Welcome Peter. Advice? Buy a Dodge!
