  1. You can get parrafin greenhouse heaters if no power is available, they work as well as the Hurricane lamps. Years ago when a Disiel Land Rover waxed up I packed straw bales around the base of the vehcile then used a greenhouse heater, in the ammo box! It thawed it out overnight.
  2. A number of the graves in the Orpington CWWG plot are dated 1921, 1922. Were these Occupation forces? Quenn Mary's Hospital Sidcup is famous for plastic surgery on Great War victims, some times over a decade of treatment.
  3. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the bath! I wondered what you where doing around the DUKW pond. I suppose Degsy has some sheep dip available?
  4. And the Muppets all run TOWARDS it!
  5. Loks like they went on a tour of the Army surplus stores!
  6. I still say it is a conspiracy!! (Much more fun that an answer!):-D
  7. I use light plastic sheets (Adverts knicked off the side of a bus) on the top of the canvas, to prevent puddles, and a large motorhome cover is the best way to go.
  8. If it gets real brass monkey weather. Stand an large metal ammo box on its side with the lid open, and place a hurricane lamp in it. Cheap easy and the heat generated is astounding. Tilley pressure lamps generate even more heat , around 2kw.
  9. Nah, glad someone else said it first go fo the Dodge!
  10. OH! You're cruel! My Labrador has very good taste!
  11. When I was young, I liked my women red haired and firey! As I grew more mature I understod the alure of the dark haired sophisticated females Now the chief thing I look for a woman? Patience! :-D
  12. Looking better! Suprising it has survived, let alone been published as such documents were 'Most Secret'. Sound ranging was the first artillery detection system capable of giving a bearing that alowed counter battery fire on an unseen target. The other system used was flash spotting. Artillery developed into a science during the Great War, before that it was open sights, point and shoot. http://nigelef.tripod.com/tgtacqcb.htm
  13. Joris, sent you a copy via e mail.
  14. Sorry mate. best I've got. I think it came from a book I have but the book has been lent to someone! :red: Although there are the usual controversies, I belive that the last person killed was a Canadian if I remember at about 10:59 and 45 seconds! Though a number of French casualties had the date changed to the day before. This was only an Armistice! The war did not actually end till 28th June 1919 with the signing of the Treaty of Versaillies.
  15. This one. The two peacks post 11am are supposed to be pistol shots.
  16. I belive Dodge even tried a version that split in half for air transport. There was also the Candian APT Air, Portable Truck, they look like a standard WC51 but are narrower and a diffrent engine. Air portable bedfords.
  17. What did the two in the Jeep do to upset the Seargent? :-D
  18. Lessons from Grandad 1) Correct use of the ratchet.
