  1. Dale, when it was in its previous ownership and I was involved in looking after it we used to call it "the roofrack Chieftain". Thats my shackle on the front holding the winch rope, we got sick of it swinging about when we ran it up and exercised it. Don't worry I'm not claiming it back !
  2. Don't blame you Rick, driving the Saurer beats talking to me anytime, it's a real nice vehicle to drive. Here's a top view
  3. I was very pleased about laser repair technology 11 days ago when I suddenly suffered a detached retina, in less than 24 hrs I was on the operating table with both laser and cryo being used in the repair, all under local anaesthetic, the laser power used was 200 & 250 joules, suspect they were using a bit more than this on the Spitfire undercarriage !
  4. Excellent set of photos, what a fantastic weekend, here is one of mine from Sunday a line up of all the tracked armour.
  5. Most post ww2 US vehicles have black wire with number stamped aluminum crimped tag on them. Champ and other postwar british had yellow (and some blue) colour wire with plastic identity sleeves shrunk over with words like EARTH and AUX on them.
  6. I have a 434 for sale in a couple of months time should you be interested, we are just going through it at the moment so it will be in excellent condition. PM me if serious in owning one, the 2 recently advertised on Milweb have been snapped up very quickly.
  7. I would seriously consider the Saurer we now have 4 in the collection I help look after, we have 1 performing this weekend at the Heywood Tanks event advertised on this forum. They are by far the most driver friendly tank I have ever driven ( I have experience a few ! Took test in CVRT and like them), we also have a Stormer playing this weekend (diesel CVRT long wheelbase). You could of course go for the ultimate and get a CET FV180 !
  8. Thanks Iain, although that does not mean an awful lot to me ! as I am no radio expert. Inside it is equipped with Clansman 353 set and all the crew comms boxes and headsets, will get some pictures this weekend.
  9. Yes it is in particularly good condition, so was the WW2 Weasel in the back of it and the Pinzgauer 4x4 that came with it !
  10. That was quick Chris, when you say a mast do you mean something standing on the ground or on the vehicle ?
  11. Confirm we will be bringing CET, SAURER TRACKED APC, STORMER unfortunately due to my eye operation over the weekend I cannot bring the M746.
  12. Anyone got a picture of the aerial which fits on the mount on my CET ?
  13. Many thanks for your prompt reply.
  14. Just arrived in the collection I help look after, its sort of MAN looking but is different, anybody any ideas, country of origin is Austria ?
  15. Did mine 2 years ago with Terry Brooks, with L plates on as half the test on the public highway, oh and in a Scorpion.
  16. Dale, I have had a serious set back, on Friday afternoon I suffered a detached retina in my right eye, this morning I had an emergency operation to repair it, still padded up so don't know the outcome yet, back to Manchester Royal Eye hospital in the morning. Not sure how I'll be for next weekend.
  17. Yes back end of another Drops tight up to the front of the one I took the picture of.
  18. Unfortunately not in swimming condition, still missing some of the buoyancy equipment !
  19. Melvyn will be running his Cent at Heywood next weekend.
  20. How do you know that the water pump is working can you see coolant moving ? Have seen Champ water pumps where the impellor has corroded away due to just having water in the system, all appears good from outside but coolant is not being displaced.
  21. Only if transport can be provided, we were hoping that you still had the big low loader but I understand that has now gone. No problem with a ride in the M746.
