  1. I am looking for information on the different types of Blackstone engines, with reference to stationary single horizontal oil engines of the bigger sizes, single flywheel about 7 to 8 feet dia and about 1 foot wide, end of cylinder head to crankshaft about 8 feet ish. Any sugestions please.
  2. Go on tell us !!!! You know you want to, also I suppose it is down to modern injection systems and design of combustion chambers ?
  3. Is there much difference in weight between the original petrol and the new diesel engines ?
  4. Mmmmm very nice and cosy in the cold weather and look dam good too.
  5. Is there a booking form or is it ok to just turn up !!!!!!:nut:

  8. Surely it should be grease guns at dawn :cool2:
  9. Depends what bits you are on about I was lucky enough to get a good strip of the bonnet rubbing stuff from Dallas Autos, the other was a custom job by Allied Forces, see above thread for pics
  10. Well done to the both of you for get it sorted will have to give it once over down at A+E.

  12. Here are a few pics of our trip to Guernsey On the Ferry Queued up in St Peters Port waiting for Police escort At the camp site waiting to depart for the fortifications Nearly at the next point on the tour for the fortifications Newly dug out bunker One of the biggest batteries in the Channel Islands consisting of 30.5cm guns How big is this gun pit !!! Another fortification
  13. No quite agree about the ramp, checked the top of the ramp and where I was going before starting up it, also been there and done it but with a long car trailer, just a bit angry they wanted me up on that deck. Truck and gun pulled up the ramp in 2nd with no problem good tight fit though.
  14. Thanks Howard, there are a few niggley bits which need sorting out but towards the end it was a bit of a rush job, a few corners were cut to get it finished, however the main cab repairs I am well chuffed with and should last for many years !!!
  15. No not me, I caught the Condor Clipper on Wed at 17.45 did get put up the *******ramp though :mad::mad: and towing the gun !!!! then they wanted me to reverse back into a parking bay................ well as I cant see the gun behind me I think I did a brill job and you will have to take my word for that.
  16. The last pic is over a year old and is the wrong colour, I have resprayed the gun again and it is much much better.
  17. Enough to stop the gun being of any use. So the barrel has been cut 3/4 of the way through just past the combustion chamber, breech ring and breech block plus firing pin / mechanism melted away, elevating gear crescents have lumps out of them and the springs cut through also all sighting equipment sledge hammered. You would never be able to fire anything and even if you tried it would probably blow up before it got out of the barrel. You silly woman, you can't cut tyres with a gas axe only set fire to them....
  18. I will probably be a sleep for a few days to catchup on some ZZZZZZZ
  19. Yes that's the stuff, you can get it from a paint supplier it goes off but stays rubbery and can be over painted which is a good thing.
  20. This is exactly the thing which is worrying me, what I have done is to use seam sealer on both side of the canvas beading, the canvas should be water proof ho ho.. we shall see. I do like the beading down the wing and across the edge of the running board too.
  21. I thought I would start a blog for my Howitzer, here are some pics of it being unloaded by a friend with a tele handler, very handy piece of kit. My Howitzer was one of a batch of guns which were all gas axed up and sold as scrap which is why the damage was so bad. Oooooo nearly out my first look at what I got for my money !! It looks bigger in real life than on a computer. Wow out on the ground and all mine :cool2: This is the top view of the breach ring, ( this is the big square bit which screws to the end of the barrel ) in this view you can see the gas cuts across it which are all the way through the top part of the breach. Here again the open side of the breach ring showing more of the damage, you can also see the curved part of the breech block ( this is the large solid block which slides right to allow a shell to be chambered in the barrel then slides back to sit behind the shell also containing the firing pin ) This is the other side of the breech ring showing the breech block and above it the handle to open it. Gun out in the open before any paint or new tyres. This is the rear of the gun showing the top of the breech ring and gas cut just behind the breech ring on the sledge you can see some angle iron which I have used to fix the barrel assembly in the ready to fire position as in the decommissioning of the gun the hydro / pneumatic recoil mechanism has been gas axed too, also under the elevating hand wheel you can see the spring assister to help elevate the gun barrel this too is gas axed in several places. This is the spring assister assembly minus the springs, there are two springs one inside the other all held between the end plates and inside the three rods. Here is the big outer spring all gas axed up ! Again the smaller one which slides inside the outer one. Mmmmmmm here are my two new springs ready waiting to be fitted.....
  22. Hi all its me again, have not had time to post been at work then on the truck every day for a couple of weeks now, seem to remember doing this last year with a Dodge !!! Ok only a couple of days to go now and its all looking good most of the bits are back on still to sort out the wiring and fit the seat boxes and seats, all painting finished now, and its got stars on it have not had them for a couple of years and its all one colour, cant believe its the same truck but you will all see it a some stage I am sure. Well here are the last bits of the pics for now More of the cab cowl with the canvas piping supplied by Allied Forces ( thanks again Jim ) Bit of the side of the cab cowl less wings This is the inside of the cab where the seat bases go and fix to the upright back panel you can see running diagonally through the pic Now got the cab rear hoop on and windscreen frame in and front wings on. Side view of cab side and cowl panel Canvas piping can just be seen between the running board and the back of the front wing Almost there ......... putting the stars and other white bits on in between the rain.. Going to go to bed for a week now.
  23. Nice 352 truck Clive, there are more and more 352's on the scene than ever. I think mine should have had a hard cab originally but has an open cab, know idea when it was fitted looks as though it was on there a long time. Good luck
  24. Tell me about it, taking it apart is no real problem, its the putting back together again after its been all painted, lost count of how many nuts, bolts, washers and spring washers I have used currently at about 8 Ltrs of red oxide etch primer, and 8 Ltrs of eggshell top coat.
  25. Hi all, sorry have not posted much but I have got a deadline you know !!!! I have been sooooo busy sorting out the cab. Its now prety much back together and on the truck now spraying like mad wiring and the like.. Will get some pics up tomorrow if I get a chance too. You wont recognise the old girl if you remember it was all a bit of different colours, now it will be all one colour and no dodgy rusty bits on the cab. Also need to spray the 105 as well got the springs back and fitted just a quick spray job to match the truck.
