  1. The death was announced this morning of Gerald Duke of Westminster. he joined the TA as a trooper 40 years ago and rose through the ranks to Major General and was head of the reseve forces until his retirement in 2012. Having met him on several occasions I have no hesitation in saying he was a true gentleman and I know he will be sadly missed by many people. RIP.
  2. The Euro's strong against the pound:-D
  3. I'll happily sell it to you Olaf :-D In fact I intend putting it on the market because my damaged back is now making it increasingly difficult to use the Weasel. I'll be sad to see it go but needs must.
  4. I was reading back through this old thread and realised that I had never posted the cure for the track problems which concerned a few people. It was quite simple, the tracks were too loose and after tightening them up they have given no further trouble despite trying very hard. Since I bought the weasel with the tracks already fitted I had no instruction paperwork but found the instructions for the tensioning of original tracks and using that as a general guide it was a fairly easy cure.
  5. We are still in the EU, the withdrawal process has not even started yet so EU rules still apply.
  6. With the name Cambria it must surely have been started by Welsh immigrants.
  7. The only public access to the top of the mountain was and still is a steep, narrow lane leading from Llanfairfechan which until a new track was built through the quarry in the late 80's we used to use to access the primary crusher. I assume that the pump house was something to do with the quarries so they would have had access to heavy machinery or failing that I presume horses would have been used. Incidentally during WW2 the mountain was used for training by both the British and US armies but I have been unable to discover whether it was used during WW1.
  8. It translates as 15th vehicle troop C 38th Cavalry Recon Squadron 1st Army
  9. With a story like that there can only be one answer.....DEFINITELY!
  10. There are 6283 mils in a circle but for use on a compass this is usually rounded up to 6400 as you say, however some military users round it down to 6000 on the compass. Needless to say there is plenty on the internet on this subject.
  11. Hi Rick, glad to hear it passed and that the first trip went well, must have been a bit nerve-racking though.
  12. Hi Rick, how've you gone on with the Foden, has it passed now?
  13. This subject has been covered in the past if you use the search option you will find the relevant threads.
  14. I cannot comment on this particular case as I am not familiar with the road or the exact circumstances but in this area it is a major problem. The A roads tend to be comparatively narrow and twisting with few stopping places and especially in the summer months are usually taken up with camper vans and caravans or used by the council to tip materials when roadworks or resurfacing are being carried out in the area. As has been mentioned previously cars behind get far too close, can't see and so don't overtake when the opportunity is there. I agree that there are some tractor drivers who are inconsiderate but that can apply equally to all road users.
  15. There used to be a guy called Shaun from Waltham Cross who made excellent copies, try phoning his father John on 01753 889522.
  16. Nothing too drastic then. Hope it goes through OK next time.
  17. That's what the oil companies tell you but our supplier has a different story;)
  18. Hi Rick, Google is your friend, several hire co's in Manchester area such as Salford Hire
  19. When you log in always tick the 'remember me' box, this might solve your problem.
  20. None of the pics are visible, all come up as invalid attachment.
  21. Never had a problem with NGK plugs in my GMC, BP6HS or BPR6HS (supressed).
  22. Hi Mike, Likewise, although it could have been under better circumstances for you. I would love to have been there but I've got so many different health problems if I was a horse I'd have been shot years ago:D I would definitely look at changing the plug leads especially if they are suppressed type. After I retired I used to help a mate out in his village garage and on average we changed at least three sets a week. For reliability I've always gone back to the old wire type on my own vehicles.
  23. Hi Mike. Since you have changed pretty well everything I'd say could be plug leads or possibly plugs. Check the distributor shaft for wear, I had one that was giving all sorts of odd symptoms eventually traced to play in the shaft. Hope this might give you a clue.
  24. Typo:??? .......NOOOooo, I can't believe that, Rob's description sounds much better;)
