  1. Robin, A wild guess, I assume it may have something to do with the amperage. I had a similar problem with Land Rover batteries, showing 24 volts but would not start the Landy. A battery load tester showed there was insufficient power in the batteries i.e. the lack of amps.
  2. Thank you for that info, have now found their website and found them on the facebook thing.
  3. Thanks for that, I didn't know where they all came from. I know some live at Kemble as well.
  4. Absolutely agree with you on that, such a beautiful aircraft, have just put some pics in the Aviation forum. The Sea Vixen was out yesterday but too far away for pics.
  5. Five Hawker Hunters doing display over RNAS Yeovilton.
  6. I had one of those on an exercise many years ago, a young RAF chap, when asked over the radio for his location replied "Umm, I'm in the back of the Land Rover". He had to be re-educated by the Regiment Corporal when they got back.
  7. Also spotted today, 5 Hawker Hunters (yes, five!) doing display over RNAS Yeovilton. Was first made aware when I heard a rushing sound as the first one arrived, I thought it was coming into the flat for breakfast! Have posted pics in Aviation forum.
  8. That might have been the same one that took off from RNAS Yeovilton, it was heading that way when last seen.
  9. At RNAS Yeovilton about 15.00, doing circuits, a DeHavilland Sea Vixen.
  10. You might try wires.co.uk, http://wires.co.uk/acatalog/dcc_wire.html Not sure if they do it in different colours.
  11. I believe nail polish is enamel, nail polish remover is good for removing enamel from enamelled wire prior to brushing clean and soldering.
  12. Some time ago I was driving the Salisbury Plain range perimeter paths, and saw all 9 of these taking off and landing, are they permanently based next to Salisbury Plain?
  13. Two fish in a tank, but neither knew how to drive it! (I'll get my coat)
  14. A Grumman C2A Greyhound leaving the circuit at RNAS Yeovilton, about 17.30 hrs. It was going away from me, and as I'd never seen one before, it took me some time to find out what it was. Also seen, a highly civilianised Lightweight Land Rover in the public car park at Three Okefords Preservation Society Rally, Shillingstone.
  15. I don't know why they can't use the Disposals Service Agency, that's what they are there for.
  16. The following may be of use. As Green Spark Plugs list Champion 7COM as an alternative, there are other alternatives listed in this DefStan with the same diameter and reach. 00000200.PDF
  17. You may try here, if you know the Mil Spec. or you can look under the item, fuels etc to find what you are looking for. https://assist.daps.dla.mil/quicksearch/ I don not know what MUM means, but fuel oils come under FSC 9140.
  18. My first is my Series 3 109 ex Army FFR Landy, bought in 2001, and use almost daily since.
  19. Welcome, Whereabouts in Yeovil are you, I'm up the road in Ilchester. Paul.
