  1. On a website, this wrecked MV at a training site in Yorkshire, on Defence Estates website under filming locations. Part of Catterick I think. http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/AboutDefence/WhatWeDo/DefenceEstateandEnvironment/MODFilmLocations/Yorkshire/WinneyhillTrainingCamp.htm
  2. Thanks all, Great links, ideal for detail. Paul.
  3. Purely conjecture, but perhaps there was a much bigger wrecker/crane, or something to do with a small driver.
  4. Yes, The airfield to the west was RAF El Adem, in use into the 70's, now mostly derelict.
  5. Is this open to non MVT members and non WW2 vehicles? Paul.
  6. Brian, Not sure exactly where the airfield was but this is where Sidi Rezegh is. Location Name Type Alternative Name: Sidi Rezegh Name Type: Variant or alternate Area / State: Tubruq Coordinates & Location Type Area Type: Spot feature Location Type: Shrine Latitude: 31.82667 Longitude: 24.13611 Latitude (DMS): 31° 49' 36 N Longitude (DMS): 24° 8' 10 E Paul.
  7. If you go to abebooks and type in keywords encylopedia and helicopters it comes up with some titles that might be of interest, Paul. http://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?bt.x=38&bt.y=15&kn=encyclopedia+helicopters&sts=t
  8. Hello all, Does anyone have, or can point me in the direction of detailed dimensional drawings of the following MoD(Army) or Army Department railway wagons? Ramp wagon. This is attached to trains, to allow loading/unloading of vehicles from flatcars where there is no platform loading facilities. One end has a detachable bogie. I do not know the prefix for this type of wagon. It has two axles. Warwell. This is a four axle wagon with a well in the middle and curved sloping ends. The specialist prefix may be KWA, KWB, or similar. SALMMS 90. This is a six axle flat wagon designed to carry Challenger MBT, I do not know if it has been in production. I am asking for detailed drawings so a model supplier can manufacture some, he has photos of ramp wagons and warwells, but needs detail to do a professional job. Thank you, Paul.
  9. What a shame it couldn't have been given to the Fleet Air Arm Museum, as a floating exhibit.
  10. Hello all, Can anyone tell me precisely how many specifically military Rover 10 and 11 were built? How many were left hand drive, if any? How many survive? The reason I ask is I am having a new bulkhead built for my S11A FFR 109. The manufacturer is wondering if it would be worth their while making a batch of panels that are specific to military ones. Thanks, Paul.
  11. Those front rails were the same on my Series 2A when I got it last year. Reckon whoever put the wheel on the wrong axles on your must have done mine as well! Paul.
  12. Normally only runs twice a year, but there will be three this year. http://www.newbury4x4andvintagesparesday.co.uk/ Last time there I bought a brand new, still in military packaging, 24 volt Landy distributor, £40! Nearly had the chaps arm off.
  13. Not the new RAAF AEW based on a 737?
  14. Can't find a name on their website, Paul.
  15. Not today, but some time ago, it's still there though. Wells Reclamation has a Bloodhound missile in its yard that has been there a while, and driving by last week also saw the barrel of what appears to be an anti aircraft gun. Traced their website today, and they also have a T34 tank. The yard is on the A39 Wells to Glastonbury road.
  16. This afternoon about half past two, a British WW2 lorry, possibly a Matador in British military markings, at Ansford/Castle Cary heading in the direction of Wincanton, didn't get a reg, it was raining.
  17. Sad news on these brave men. I hadn't seen it before!
  18. There are also some other very interesting piccies of ex military vehicles in the group on flickr. Look for the Bus and Coach Recovery Group.
  19. Also this one, which says it's ex-Halifax http://www.flickr.com/photos/thespian/516216086/ In this set, typing Matador in the search doesn't show all the Matadors, as some are only listed as "recovery" vehicles.
  20. Mark, Are these the ones? http://www.sct61.org.uk/hx401.htm http://www.flickr.com/photos/28083135@N06/5055473146/
  21. Mark, I will find them again and post shortcuts, Paul.
  22. Mark, Ref the Halifax Matadors, have found piccies, but nothing to say where it is now if it still exists, Paul.
  23. I have one similar to that shown by schliesser92, it is dated 1983 and manufactured by Rogers of Sheffield. I also have a 2008 version which has a longer shackle and the main blade locks open, but there is no manufacturer's name etched anywhere.
