  1. They should be coming from Langport to near Podimore (before they go up the A37 to Shepton Mallet) at about 21.00 Wednesday evening, will be out there to give encouragement.
  2. I get a number of these, and from banks as well. Without clicking on any of the links I forward them all to spoof@millersmiles.co.uk, who keep a record of all these and work towards tracing and eliminating them. Visit their website. millersmiles.co.uk. After forwarding them I delete them and empty my trash bin.
  3. Worst meal was on exercise at Honington, a cold fried egg banjo, from a "hotbox". Egg banjo had been made about three hours before!
  4. It's always nice to see that isn't it?
  5. Could you not rob the stretcher bearers from the Tamiya 1/35 Series 3 ambulance kit?
  6. One of our stripy Sea King Mk4 on approach to Yeovilton, I think the 1969-2009 on the nose must relate to the introduction of the Sea King. Also spotted a Sea King Mk5, totally grey, which must make it XV651, now operated out of Fleetlands, but didn't manage to get a pic of that one.
  7. I may be, have been there the last two years and enjoyed it.
  8. I am watching this thread with a great deal of interest, as when my Series 2A comes back, with it's new genny fitted, I will need to look at the old one which does not charge. I did send two emails to a company which seems to do a lot of military stuff, but got no reply, even to say No!
  9. Can I borrow this and put it on facebook please, I remember those days well.
  10. On Friday night I was continuing my trawl through old posts, when I came across the comment on a slipway at Havant, and Mulberry Harbours. I was curious so went investigating things. I could not find anything specific to Broadmoor slipway (the actual location) relating to WW2, but did find some other stuff. The second picture is of an ex Army RCL L105 Arromanches at the slipway, in use as a civilian vessel. (Picture copyright Scarletpimpernel on Flickr). The first picture is of the same craft when it was in use by the RN as L112 Agheila. The third picture is a Google earth shot of a Phoenix caisson still in Langtone Harbour, which is where the slipway is. Three Phoenix were built at nearby Hayling Island to supplement the Mulberrys, one broke and sank during its launch and it is still there. Amazing what you find!
  11. An absolute shame that Niggers name is to be changed. I used to edit a magazine. One of my editorials was about the untruth then being told in Texas schools about the battle of the Alamo, because the authorities didn't want to upset the large Mexican population. The thrust of the article was that teachers should be trusted to teach children the truth, no matter what, otherwise what will children be told next, they will not know the truth from a lie, and will not be liable to trust anyone.
  12. I have just discovered an excellent website, on a historic subject, well worth a look. http://www.bracklaordnance.co.uk/
  13. There were two types of trailers, both of which were still in use when I was on 71MU at RAF Bicesters. They had different dimensions as pointed out in the other thread. One, the Queen Mary, had the wheels well forward of the tailgate, the other, sometimes known as a Queen Elizabeth had the wheels right at the back. As far as I am aware, both were made by Taskers. A much later trailer was made by King and had two axles.
  14. Yes, there are versions with solid panels, flush with the fuselage, over the navigators cockpit. The one in storage at Yeovilton is of that variant.
  15. On approach to RNAS Yeovilton, a German Transall C160.
  16. I am lucky occasionally, normally most things will do a display over the airfield, which is too far away for photos with my camera, (unless I drive down there) but sometimes, things will do a long circuit, and if the other flats don't get in the way, I can get a decent piccy.
  17. On approach to RNAS Yeovilton, a German Transall C160, pic in Aviation forum.
  18. Problem now appears to be sorted.
  19. Spotted Thursday about 12.30, over RNAS Yeovilton area, practising a display, a De Havilland Sea Vixen. The trees in one picture are about 60 feet high and 10 feet from the end of my flat!
  20. Share tab? Where is that please?
  21. Is anyone else having trouble uploading pictures at the moment?
  22. De Havilland Sea Vixen practising display over RNAS Yeovilton, will post a couple of pics in Aviation Forum.
