  1. Blimy Jack, a year and 5 days to think of that one! You should go on the stage...:-D
  2. You may well be right Richard, I've only been to Bills once in 93 I think. I feel I saw it there but thinking about it, it may have been Bovvy in the late 80's.
  3. I can't tell you much other than Eisemann are better known for their magnetos.
  4. It went to a dealer/collecter in Sussex, I suspect it's where Richard is thinking along with two Rams. One Ram is now in Scotland and the other went to Holland but I think may now be in Canada. I'm not sure where the Matilda went, it was still in Sussex in the early 90's.
  5. Churchill ended up a good tank, Black Prince was too little, too late. It was slower than Churchill and that's saying something!
  6. They were already familiar with the 17 pr so that would not have come as a shock and as for it's blistering speed...... I don't think Black Prince would have been anything special on a 1946 battlefield.
  7. Yes, it was in jest... just a gentle poking fun at those who seem reluctant to admit to enjoying their hobby. :iloveyou:
  8. I have found two different sizes of German halftrack track sections as well as three links of Tiger 1 battle track on Salisbury Plain. There used to be a good selection of German AFVs on Lulworth including Panther and Pz III. All long gone sadly!
  9. Those German wheels look like the ones from a tank transporter trailer though I thought they were singles.
  10. www.pretendingweonlydoittohonourtheveterans.com perhaps? Or did I make that up.....?:coffee:
  11. Well as you started this thread with It's hard to see what the point is anymore!
  12. There's not a great deal of point in getting your H group, especially using one of the expensive options unless you see yourself using it. I suppose it is no ill store to have but with the cost from some of these companies offering it......
  13. I had that swine flu, after treatment the doctor said I now had gammon flu...... it seems I was cured.......
  14. Interesting pic Hanno. I think that gap between the glacis and superstructure might let the water in though.....:nono: Joking apart, it looks like a pre-fabbed top resting on the hull rather than built on to it as in Sherman. One of the problems with a cast hull I suppose.
  15. No O licence is required but this prohibits you from using the truck in connection with anyones trade or business not just for hire or reward. If you had a mate who wanted you to move his JCB and you were happy to do it as a favour, if it was part of his or anybodys business, you would be breaking the law.
  16. Anything less than an armoured vehicles lasts half an hour on a range. The cost of replacing targets everyday would far outweigh any perceived benefit. Bear in mind the MOD purchased several Sherman Grizzlies from Ian MacGregor for use as targets in the 1980s. I assume he had failed to sell them privately beforehand.
  17. No. You risk forfeiture of vehicles and arrest.
  18. You had the answer all along!
  19. I agree Mike but none of those situations apply in the case at hand. Does the landowner have a duty of care to look after the DUKWs that have been left on his land? Beyond ensureing that he causes no further damage or disposes of them without following procedure, I cannot see how he does.
  20. My query resulted from the statement ''a duty of care to look after them''. This implied to me the 'landlord' would have a responsibility to look after and hence take care of and as an extension, protect from deterioration of the goods. I do not believe that is true, either in the case of the DUKWs or any other. The landlord is only being paid to store the goods (assuming that is actually the case), he has no duty to do more than that. I did not query the point made about disposal. Any other requirements placed upon the landlord would be wholly unreasonable and I believe, in this case totally inappropriate.
  21. The unusual thing with this Sherman compared to the others the British Army were receiving at the time is the spaced out suspension. The E9 kit was only released in August 44 with 1000 tanks being modded and 1000 sets of kits for field fitting being manufactured. The question is was this tank supplied as such in which case it must have been an unusual example, I can't recall seeing any pictures of similar vehicles in British service, or was it a field kit fitted here? I have pics of the link markings and T number but they are not mine to post here. They are fairly faint now anyway so not very helpful.
  22. In either case I fail to see how there would be a duty upon the land owner to take care of the vehicles. The best he could be expected to do would be to watch them slowly deteriorate!
