  1. Hi Richard any idea what its origional number might of been for March 44 ? would it of started off with M555 ? P.S. I have put a post up for a QL so keep your ear to the ground please mate. Thanks Ian
  2. Firstly thanks to the guys at the RLC Museum at Deepcut for finding the record card relating to my 44 GPW, I had to wait 5 months but its worth it. Question is what should the bonnet number be as I had worked it out from various books that a March 44 GPW would be 555???? but the record card says 'converted from 1500669' is this its correct bonnet number ? Thanks Ian
  3. Correct, 102 model (round tank) with direct drive. I have a very rare 1942 short shaft WD model complete with it origional manual, will look very nice when restored will all its brass fittings.
  4. That the most positive suggestion I've seen so far on this thread, an organised 'bus' service would ensure that the public dont miss any of the displays/renactments etc and everyone else use it to get arround and cutout the high volume of vehicle movements. The one criticisum I have is all the underage riders on mx & quad bikes, I think it should be banded partly for safety reasons but mainly because it detracts from the military theme. Fantastic show. already counting down the days until next year.
  5. Have a go at rebuilding it yourself and learn a bit as you go, its very easy and cheep to do. Theres only one tricky part that needs an extra pair of hands but if you get stuck just ask. Good luck.

  9. Hi Senschu, Jeeps are the most fun you can have with your trousers on !!!! if you like it and the price is right buy it mate and ignore the 'rivet counters' Personaly I would rather own a WW2 Jeep with a few 50 year old wrong parts (Hotchkiss) than a 'script' Ford made up of mostly new 2011 parts. Good luck Buddy

  16. Hi Chris could you find that artical real fast please buddy !!!! as a kid in the 60s 70s we all used to run arround with ww2 gas masks on and guns made out of broom handles & 6" nails, nobody died then but we might only have days to live now. On a serious note yours is good advise as I for one didnt know about the danger.
  17. Cheers guys. I should of made myself clearer from the start, I am more used to the modern type cup plugs. Two of my mates that have fitted many Welch plugs have also advised that I use Red Hermetite and then seat them by tapping the centre just like I did but also tap all round the edge with a drift. Thanks again. Ian
  18. I did all that !!! which gasket sealer would you use ? Cheers
  19. Hi Guys Advise need urgently so that I can go to W&P show and not worry about breaking down again !!!!! GOOD NEWS !!!! Just finished a ground up resto on my 44 GPW and she (Millie) passed the MOT today. BAD NEWS !!!! Fitted new core plugs during the engine rebuild but one popped out after about 30 minuites of the engine warming up and the second one popped out after about 25 miles of running. WHY ? do I need to glue/seal them in of just hit them harder with a 'ball pein' hammer. Cheers guys. see you at W&P ?
