  1. Not sure on the identity of these, but could that possibly be a Morris radio truck in the first pic on the left? CS8?
  2. A barrage balloon?? You must let me know how you get offered this sort of odd things! I take it the 1969 Understanding Wife fully approves!
  3. Aha , someone else in my neck of the woods! Welcome aboard Stone and have fun.
  4. Is the Ferret up for sale as well?
  5. I forgot about that thread, was it the same area?
  6. Too much time/money on your hands Nick! Or maybe you dont have small children/partner with an obssession for buying gagdets for the kitchen.
  7. Be interesting to trace a bit more of that story. Lost bombers website may give you more info on that.
  8. Ooo! Holiday cottage in France Any discount for HMVFers? Posting a photo is not straightforward. Create a free account in www.photobucket.com . Save your picture from your pc file onto photobucket. With the pic on PB hover the cursor over the image, you should then get a small dropdown list. On the last option in the small list, right click to highlight then copy and paste onto your text. It is a right royal pain in the arse, but you soon get used to it.
  9. Whenever I see those, it usually means we are on our way to the south coast for a holiday.
  10. Blimey, that was a good find, always burning our starter out despite finding the biggest and most heavy duty one I can find. Very nice looking vehicle now, and to think it was only up the road from me.
  11. They liked the Iltis, didnt do them much good in A'stan, maybe thats why theyve gone for very large and armoured.
  12. Is it a close up of a poisonous/exploding seed? Where is Attenborough when you need him?
  13. I see your point! You dont want to end up a Back-axle-billy-no-mates. I had better keep mine for a while then, just so I can put it off as long as possible. Course I could just keep an eye on what you are doing and pretend I know what Im talking about!
  14. Blimey! Wouldnt have been easier to go for a pub lunch? I wait to see photo updates on how you get on.
  15. A lack of proper servicing. All very well doing the filters etc yourself, but there are some things that need a bit of lifting equipment. Changing the timing belt on these is an all day job, I suspect thats why it wasnt done.
  16. Or.."Is this how you start it?"
  17. Couple of pics found. BAOR convoy in Germany. Id's please. And name that minesweeper.
  18. Not strictly MV, but a customer came in with his Berligo van as it had suddenly stopped between Northampton and MK. We concluded that his cambelt had snapped which meant a new engine being an interference type engine. It had to have done some uneconomic repairs to the engine. He found a new engine, so we stripped his old one down to found out what had happened. There is another piece of the camshaft somewhere. I dont know where. The cam is about 35mm in diameter, it split apart the cam bearings and bent the studs which hold the bearings in place.
  19. Researching WW2 relatives is a lot harder than WW1 research, ironically even harder if they survived. Medal cards are easy enough to view from the NA for a few pounds, and worth getting a copy emailed. The only way of getting the records for sure, unless you are very lucky, is to locate the regimental museum in the county that the regiment was associated with. ie Oxon Bucks regt I would have to go to Aylesbury archives. Another idea is to do an ebay search and try to find the war diaries, very detailed, listing virtually every man and the days actions. Failing ebay try www.abebooks.com , war diaries is the way to go if you know the regt. Any more help let me know.
  20. Amazing story, are there any more pics of theB17 after landing?
  21. Nice looking Champ, and unusual to see a trekker. Nice looking ice cream van with the "Stop me and buy one" on it...or did I read that wrong?
