  1. Haven't seen one of these for a good while - looking very good . More photo's of the finished articles in due course please Jim .
  2. Well done that man . There are going to be a good few people very grateful for what you have done to save these irreplaceable vehicles and spares for the future .
  3. Interesting . Just got the new CMV in the post today - seems to be getting thinner !
  4. I do like those Renaults . nice to see something a little out of the ordinary .
  5. As already said , all the Herald chassied Triumphs have oil in the trunnions . I bought an oil gun to do my Mk II Vitesse from Frost - can't remember how much it was now but it's nice and compact for the few times you need to get one out to use and didn't break the bank . .
  6. I wanted to go this year as I've not been for several years , particularly as I've resurrected the restoration of my 10cwt Morris Series II which has been sitting unloved for over twenty years now ! I've looked in the past but never really seen very much by way of military bits and pieces , there's always the oddity to be found here and there - one year we came home with a saddle (because we didn't already have enough of those in the house)!
  7. Coming home this afternoon met two Pinz's each towing an artillery piece . (Couldn't say what they were as they were sheeted up).
  8. This was the first year in this incarnation & was run by the ABF in conjunction with a promotions company . There may be another next year but we understand that the gentleman who was in charge is still laying down in a darkened room somewhere so for the moment it's watch this space ! The EAFVG were given the running of the preserved vehicles section and we had a great time meeting and chatting with the in service lads and lasses and all the mop's that came through - vehicle entries weren't as high as hoped but we did say that in the week or so immediately before W&P it was a likely eventuality .
  9. Don't think it's ex mil but I spotted a nice 40's Chevrolet pick up on the forecourt of a car sales lot in Thurnby near Leicester at the weekend , somebody's nice project .
  10. Thank you .That is very very nice. I'm jealous !
  11. Sorry it's taken me a while to reply - my pics didn't show it but the Abbot is 07 EB 88 .
  12. You're quite welcome . We were there from setting up the vintage MV display on Friday until the Apache left on Sunday evening . Weather was a bit variable from scorching hot to more than a little damp but it was a great weekend and we had a good time - particularly talking to the in service lads and lasses who were there with their respective units .
  13. Here's some photo's I managed to take at the tournament last weeekend , unfortunately I didn't get the chance to get round to photographing all the brilliant reenactors who covered a span of history from the Thracians and Barbarians through Romans and Saxons to the English Civil war , the Napoleonic period and on to the First and Second world wars . Anyway , here's the pics :
  14. Now what would be the point in taking the sensible option ? ( Says the man with the 427ci Cleveland waiting to go in his ute ! ) .
  15. Excellent . Photo's please , when you get a minute...........
  16. I used to get them off of e bay if I wasn't in too much of a hurry , otherwise I'd raid the motorcycle section in Halfords .
  17. Sorry I didn't reply chaps , the link to the article was very helpful . Got the pump changed , all was hunky dory , timing fine , started & ran as well as normal ran fine for a good half hour or so and had much better pressure than for some time but then it died and on investigation obviously had no spark . This , it eventually transpired , was because the distributor shaft was not properly engaging in the oil pump shaft . I've now had it apart and back together a couple of times , everything seems to fit as it should but the two ends just do not engage as they should and seem to be around an eighth of an inch short of what they should be . I'm now stumped - Is there something blindingly obvious I'm missing ?
  18. Well , I for one would like to thank you and all the guys involved for everything you did in making BB the success it was. It really was a great show , thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who took part and it will be sorely missed . And , of course , very best wishes with the new venture if and when it comes to pass .
  19. Price would be handy for potential purchasers - if you happen to know what the owner is likely to be asking .
  20. Best Wishes from us here too Chris . Sorry it's a little late - didn't get on the puter last night .
  21. Going to be changing the jeeps oil pump tomorrow - I seem to remember seeing a recommendation to pack it with Vaseline to facilitate priming . Any do's or don'ts from those in the know ?
  22. It looks very similar to the photo - from what little we could see of it when we were up there a while ago - it had just arrived at the time and was sheeted up outside in the yard .
  23. Thanks for all the feedback chaps . Called in at WHS this morning & found them - buried in the bottom of a display box on the opposite side of the shop to every other magazine !
