  1. Since around 8.30 this morning two helicopter gunships flying overhead again and again and again........
  2. I'm looking to get a quote to transport a small to medium sized vehicle from the Vienna area in Austria back to mainland Britain . Delivery to Harwich or Felixstowe would be acceptable . Can anybody recommend reputable companies I might contact please ?
  3. Ditto that . Are you not coming Mark ?
  4. Mine is the Snow Trac at the very first show I took it to , loved the setting and it made a good photo - one of the best I have of it in it's present colour scheme .
  5. Hats off to you chaps, well done hardly seems an adequate statement really ! You must have a wealth of stories to tell and , hopefully , pictures to show us .
  6. Walked out the door heading for the office five minutes ago and there was an airliner flying over here with three fighters escorting and a little further north west was an AWACS or similar equipped plane with another fighter escort , all heading out to sea .
  7. I fell out of bed a little after six this morning & left for sunny Dallas just on six thirty . 136 miles later I rolled in there at half eight . My main purpose was to pick up some more paint for the Dodge & hopefully a couple of tyres but after seeing the price I decided to leave them - I suppose they were not unreasonable at £265 each - just more than I could afford . Had a good look around the stalls and picked up a couple of bits on behalf of others . Had hoped to see the chap that used to sell film props and bits in the hope of getting a casualty to ride in the back of the ambulance but I didn't see him there so our search goes on . Loaded up my purchases and headed for home just on eleven .
  8. I stand corrected - my comment was based on the information given by 00EC25 in his reply to the 2009 thread .
  9. One went to Duxford for restoration , the second was made over and swapped with the Russians -there is another Conqueror thread elsewhere on the forum from around 2009 which has the details .
  10. To be perfectly honest I've got no idea what happened to it Martyn , I don't think it was left down on the ranges , I think pretty much everything was pulled out and removed in one big REME exercise somewhere around the mid 1980's - unfortunately my slides aren't date stamped so I can't pin it down exactly .
  11. Finally sat down and found the slides I took back in the 80's when the Conquerors were recovered from Fingringhoe range . Also a couple of other bits that were pulled out at the same time.
  12. As some of you know I re-married last year so my beloved (the new wife that is) is still getting used to my foibles and working out just how many vehicles there are around the place . She's already said that I must outlive her as she doesn't want to have to sort out all the junk ! But a couple of weeks ago we were out and on the road met a mate in his lorry delivering one of his small 360 excavators . Later she asked if we had a digger of our own and I had to point out that she had actually walked past it several times without noticing...last weekend we were out in the garden having a bit of a tidy up so I couldn't resist calling her over and saying " Do you see this orange tractory type thing here with the shovel on the front and the backhoe ......?:-D
  13. The usual story - all the unimportant locals knew exactly where it was - one lad interviewed by local radio said his dad saw it come down - and it had been reported to the authorities repeatedly over the years but nobody of any 'significance' was interested in doing anything about it until now .
  14. Welcome Mike , hopefully we'll meet up at one of the local shows somewhere along the way this year .
  15. Alan - if you ever played with a Meccano set when you were younger you will be fine with a Land-Rover ! One of the first full restorations I did was a Series One and it was just like that . There are a wealth of suppliers of bits for them and a vast amount of information available in books and on the net . One of my great regrets is passing up the offer I once had of an Airportable in my impoverished youth . Given my time over again somehow I would find the money and buy it .
  16. So sorry to hear your terrible news . Please accept our condolences and our very best wishes for you and your family. You will all be in our thoughts . DM
  17. Yes , have to agree with the concensus , a good move admin well done . As for Streetview etc - I ought to have a look at mine again just to check but the last time , like many others here , it was around three years out of date as it showed my old range Rover on the drive which was scrapped about four years ago .
  18. Well done John , they are the others I referred to .
  19. Here you go ....saw them when I went to look at the tender last week . There were these two fairly scruffy one's on the low loader and another couple of very nice ones in green parked up amongst the other trucks around the corner near the office .
  20. Anyone had The Phone Call yet ? :shocking:
