  1. I mean it's not exactly a globe but a swastika, although some stampings are more clear than others.
  2. Last W&PR one of the bigger arms dealers had bins full of them for £200/ea. I forgot their name but they had a large white marquee and a fully chromed MG53 & tripod on display, maybe that will trigger someone's memory on their name.
  3. You'll need (reprints of) the original TM's and Parts Lists, and most of those can also be found online as PDF for free. Then I would say the books by John Farley and if you can find them the books by Lawrence Nabholtz. There are more, but these will give you a nice start. Also, make sure you join and read the jeep forums of http://www.g503.com/ , the #1 jeep information resource world-wide...
  4. Indeed, the twins also restored Mike Gibb/Weald's JP. If you see what they started with and how it looks now, I'm sure the only limiting factor in this current project would be the availiability of funds, and more important, parts. I have no doubt the twins are more than capable of handling the technical issues.
  5. Unless those plates were buried just before the war ended to keep them out of Allied hands? If needed, a large crane is easy to rent or buy...
  6. He had a stall at the latest W&PR for the promotion of the show's new season where he talked with fans. Bruce is a genuinely nice and friendly guy, very approachable and always interested in people. Ofcourse he has to act a bit sometimes on the show, but in general what you see is how he really is. The same goes for the Twins. I completely agree with Tim that they are extremely skilled mechanics that have perfectly restored a lot of hard projects. You see them in the show as they really are.
  7. Neither were mentioned, I think a clause in the contract. On the Axis Track Services website are photo's of the restoration of this Hetzer (and other vehicles). http://www.axistrackservices.com/
  8. I think that's also due to the difference between a trained marksman and a civilian who was in the army 30 years ago... Haven't seen this episode yet as I can't receive Quest, but it will be on the net somewhere soon.
  9. Also on DailyMotion: This uploader also has all the other episodes. Episode 2 was aired tonight.
  10. Seems to be the same model as the British Officers' 2 -man tent? Like this one: http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/british-officers-2-man-tent-product,17576
  11. Here is useful information as well, especially for those coming in from the Continent by DFDS ferry: https://twitter.com/DFDSUKUpdates
  12. There is no surviving documumented relation between the framenumber and the unit a jeep was assigned to. A friend of mine is VERY lucky to have an original Ford document that stated the framenumber of his GPW, the date of delivery, the assigned hoodnumber and the fact that it was delivered on wheels (not crated). What can be determined from the framenumber is the date of delivery, and a guesstimation of the hoodnumber. If you can recover an original hoodnumber during restoration that will help to determine if the hood MIGHT be original to the jeep. Only hope you have to determine the unit are surviving markings or a WW2-era photo featuring the vehicle.
  13. I'm not sure why you need drawings for the complete chassis, but maybe it's an option to get a donor chassis (or sections thereof) for repairs? I do know the front horns up to the front crossmember are being reproduced.
  14. http://www.jeepdraw.com/ will have what you need. Very good quality drawings of almost every part.
  15. No, the WLC was made by Harley to Canadian specifications. It wasn't built under licence.
  16. 1950's Dutch army coat for drivers. There are several small variations regarding closure etc. I have several... somewhere.
  17. That's the price the US distributor quoted. They might be a bit cheaper for Europeans, especially if you can pick up?
  18. Not Staman. I would like to see some specifications as well, but if another party can start production in the US as well it will be all the better for collectors, especially if both sources will be comparable in quality.
  19. Check out Sammelwut, there are some RSO parts for sale there from time to time. Good luck! :-)
  20. I guess you can contact Ron F. by his business-email, partsdepartment 'at' g503.com. Hope that helps?
