  1. I say, looks like the ground crew wish to play a little game of chicken wot.
  2. you'll be lucky there is a shortage of tyres over here at the moment because of new laws passed this year.
  3. An interesting website with pics for everyone, also under the heavy artillery some interesting pics of Americans with a rail-gun as they seem to be popular at the moment. http://www.historylink101.com/ww2_color/index.html#bw
  4. That trick has been around many years now, ask anyone who has owned a capri, always have a bag of cement or similar in the back.
  5. a 'monkey' is a Royal Marine isn't it?. Don't know about the navy but in the army a monkey is a RMP royal military police.
  6. Would just like to add on this, i was out on op Telic 12 and they MP's would scan everything sent, any bottles found would be investigated, and dependent on contents could get the sender and the recipient in trouble. this process also slows down the delivery of mail for the troops.
  7. Health and Safety.... F*%K OFF!
  8. Trust the recymech's to take it to far, all we got are kites.

There are several rumors of both Guernsey and Jersey's under ground hospitals being haunted by german officers. I'm sure i have heard of one account of a museum curator heard jack boots marching in one of the tunnels. Guernsey's one was a little dank and not very pleasant when i last went it, that was a long time ago tho. Speaking of toys hidden in tunnels i have heard from first hand how an old german lorry along with boxes, kit and some weapons most of which were rotten at the time where still there in the mid 70s. I know someone with original photos taken by the germans during the war will have to speak nicely and have a look if there are any in there.

I my self have spent many an hour reading books on the occupation not to mention the hours in museums and at various fortifications. as for the clip i believe you are right i have had a scan through my books and have found a couple of images of them however they don't specify to there locations. one book does state the numbers tho 9 in Jersey, 10 in Guernsey, 2 in Sark and 1 Alderney.

Interesting link Tony B thanks, my pop was sentenced to Biberach during the war, he marked out a V for victory on the roof of the Odeon in union flags on Hitlers birthday.
  13. 3rd pic warrior apc in for ground and challenger 2 in mid ground not too sure on the last vehicle.
  14. Only the newer wolfs have a 24v system. the older and cheaper 110/90s are all 12v. As for the PTO i don't know of any inservice with them fitted but i imagine it would not be too hard to fit one, as for a night heater there are still some of the arctic heater packages floating around and they keep the vehicle very warm as the heaters run all down the back as well.
  15. I will admit to having some knowledge of the Freddys too. Hope they have had fun because they can be a pain in arse to line up and connect two 7/8s spanners and bendy arms helps.
  16. Not a problem mate, i have had 3 years playing with these and their bigger brother (immlc) so if you ever need any other advise i will do my best to help.
  17. That is correct however the mmlc (drops) does have and emergency pull to stop leaver at the front if this was depressed tho the vehicle would not start.
  18. On your fuel lines at r/h/r of engine they go from the solid metal pipes to flexy ones, the unions on there have o-rings inside them on the push to seal side, take them apart and i reckon you shall find both of them solid and cracked, if they are that is where it shall be drawing in air. the only other place they seem to draw air is the elbow connection that is through the chassis near the fuel tank this can be a pain in the arse to get to as the loom gets in the way.
  19. Welcome, it is great to have a person of such knowledge of a varied vehicle fleet.
  20. Is it defiantly the pump leaking or is it a line, i have had several where number 1 injector pipe has been leaking and a swap for a new one has solved the problem, its also alot cheaper than an pump. If it is,the pump ill have a dig around as i am sure i could find out what tools etc you need for doing it.
  21. I would agree a land rover would be a good choice as they are very simple and parts are abundant with most panels being swapped over for any other defender, and the chance to get galvanized parts that will out last you, also there is a huge amount of knowledge to be found on this site alone when it comes to a rebuild.
  22. Very nice, looks very tidy all round. and a winch always better than without. :cool2:
  23. The one on the far right doesn't look road ready appears to be missing both headlights on the drivers side. i assume these are ex med-man fleet, in all honesty i would do a thorough check over them before buying as "field fixes" will of been applied to keep them battle ready apposed to road worthy.
  24. Hi Andy, nice to welcome an ex REME's and a VM at that. your knowledge will be tested on here.
  25. HI Andy welcome to the forum, don't change the tow hitch on the 101 change it on the trailer. pics are always welcome on here.
