  2. There are a few referances to tank turrets as fortifications on this site too http://www.festungguernsey.supanet.com/
  3. Im sure they could of spoken nicely to the goverment and had some of the cars from the scrapage sceeme insted of using these old mil vehs which people do want to restore.
  4. Im guna jump on the band wagon too, the Germans used several french ww1 tanks in the channel islands, including RT-17s and a few others, would name them but am not in camp at the mo so havent got acess to my books.
  5. I'll have to disagree with that as none of my family own any mil vehs and i am at 20 yrs old now a proud owner of a WC-52 which is currently going through a VERY long restoration as i am only able to play with it for a few weeks a year. The joys of the army eh.
  6. Excellent vid, Never mess with a biker especialy one who like MV's :cool2:
  7. Sarge, i got these keys in my pocket but im not sure which ambo they belong too
  8. Hate to say it mate but mite be a new loom, lets hope its just that. Hope the person who did this has learnt always disconect the batteries when ever exposing live wires to any posable earthing point.
  9. Anti-Air? looks like it has a computer under the cover, also the fire extinguisher bracket indicates it hasnt been in service for a while as the british army now uses a modern powder version on there vehicles.
  10. Only think i can think of is its an ex red-top. I know out in BATUS Canada all the perminant staff have their vehicles in red, ranging from land rovers to warriors.
  11. Extendable magnets, or one on a bit of string, great for getting in to small spaces for awol nuts, bolts or even tools
  12. blue point go-thru ratchet set, great set has imperial and metric, ratchet is also flex-head so is perfect for those tight spots
  13. hahaha yep and the BBQ on the tail gate
  14. I have never come across one, i doubt they would as the cab is seperat to the bed and as a general rule people are not ment to sleep in the back, i think because of H&S and also they are often full of kit. we always build up a storage and bunk beds with incorporated storage so we can fit in, the new 6t sv's give us a little more room than the 4t bedfords. i think its only the REME and some stackers that get away with sleeping in the backs of there trucks. Atleast if you fit beds in now noone can say anything because your returning it to what it was like when in service, have some pics of the back of a fitter truck somewhere will try to find them and post them for you
  15. For insulation some old carpet between the canvas and support bars, then a sheet of hessian to hide it (worked well on our fitter truck at minus 20 deg c ). Camp cots are reasonably comfy and pack up small for transport if u need more room in the back.
  16. looks like great fun, what scale is it?
  17. Sounds like it mite of been an ex REME fitter truck, we have a similar set up on our new fitter truck now and had it on our old MJ although we removed everything, cant say everyone will have, all it was for is insulation for the long winter ex's, as we have 2 bunkbeds in the truck so wouldnt want to have a cold bed eh
  18. A very unoriginal lightweight, huge tyres, extended eyebrows and an intresting cammo paint job, seen at cobo gsy, also seen a 101 up by whiterock the other day.
  19. hahaha thats nothing, did you see the one on the cast park? alot less left of it than that one, im sure i have a picture of it will try to find it and post it for you. although there where another two parked up down there and i know one of them started and drove.
  20. i would asume as they where called 4 tonne bedfords the load would be 4t, as for fitting it for a camper we used to have one as a fitter truck before the SV fleet came along. ours had alot of isulation, four beds ( 2 bunkbeds) kero heater full work bench, and a double cabinet set up, ontop of all that we had five or six full toolboxes, 2 tiffy boxes, various other stte, kit for a minimum of four people for a month, expense alot of it, P.O.L various, cooker,tv etc so weight should not be a problem. at the end of the bed we had an aluminium sheet covering the back with a sliding door to allow entry, the tail gate was always hung off the chains to allow for extra space and a set of steps allowed us to climb up the back.
  21. CVRT fuel tanks are popular for that
