  1. Morris-Commercial C9/B, snapped at Beltring in 2006. Is this the one now at the Manx Museum?
  2. wet it down, it could help showing the numbers more clearly.
  3. Another C8 4x4 15-cwt - a Dutch one no less! Snapped at Oosterbeek, The Netherlands, last year.
  4. Thanks for the confirmation and the date. Getting closer! Here's hoping that Morris survived the past 25 years. . . .
  5. Just been scanning some photographs I took at Beltring in 1999. Pair of Morris-Commercials: C8 4x4 15-cwt GS truck (273 GRP) on the left, C8/AT 4x4 anti-tank tractor (L4571261) on the right.
  6. Thanks for the hint - now, how do we find out where this truck is today?!? H.
  7. Great to see those old catalogs - thanks for sharing them! I found an online calculator at http://www.measuringworth.com/ppoweruk/. This is the result: Another comparison for the Dodge Tony's uncle bought: So vehicles were not really cheap in those days - remember demand was much higher than supply.
  8. Rick, Could it be? I don't think so as "YFO 725" is a British registration, isn´t it? Thanks, Hanno
  9. Thanks Rick, You mean the Autumn Issue? http://www.mvt.org.uk/Windscreens/ws2010_autumn.html I do not see it listed in the contents. Is the article about this particular Predictor or about the type in general? Sorry for asking all these questions, but information is hard to come by. Thanks, Hanno
  10. Ed, Would that have been this Morris-Commercial C8/P Predictor? Photo from Miliblog.co.uk. Regards, Hanno
  11. About time to revive this thread. I found the photo below at Miliblog.co.uk, which features a load of pictures taken at HMV shows many years ago. It is labelled "Morris C8 Anti-Tank Tractor (YFO 725)", a Morris-Commercial C8/AT 17-pdr Anti-Tank Tractor, most likely converted from most a Morris-Commercial C8/MG 'Portee'. My question is: who knows if YFO 725 is still around? Thanks, Hanno
  12. I think you are right. I was going by the file name and thus ran aground. Should have checked my bearings. Going down into the holds now to see if I sprung a leak
  13. That's a shame, W&T does not deserve to slip into obscurity. Anyone unfamiliar with W&T, you do not know what you are missing. Especially if they are offered for 0.50p or 1 quid, get all issues you can lay your hands on as they are worth their weight in gold! It seems the W&T contents list has also disappeared from their site, so I am copying it below as an easy reference: Issue 1 Canadian Chevrolet C8A - 4X2 Whites - Sinsheim - Four Generations of Bedfords - Keep 'em Rollin' - Maple leaf Jeeps - 12 Ton 8X* New VLTTs Issue 2 8-ton 8X8 T20 series - Water-Rovers - The Patton museum - polish 6X6 Stars - YPR-765 - Cook Bros. 14. Excellent find! This will take your project a huge step forward.
  15. Thanks for the lead. A quick google search turned up web pages like this: http://www.rafcomrades55-57.freewebspace.com/photo.html So indeed it seems MV Devonshuire was a troopship which sailed on Cyprus. Will do some more searching later, thanks!
  16. Great job! For your reference, here is a picture of a South African Army Land Rover, taken from a workshop manual found here. Interesting to see they were of the Pick-Up type and powered by the 2.6-litre 6 cylinder engine. Also, they were built in South Africa by Leyland SA (PTY) Ltd.
  17. Thanks, I was just checking his booklet. You are right, he owned a D8 which was sold and was then "being used on land drainage for a contractor in Suffolk".
  18. Markus, Great choice, a Standard Beetle in grey. They do not come more basic than this! That is how I like them the most. You could also opt to paint it as a Bundeswehr Beetle or any of the Beetles in service with other Armies around the world. Regards, Hanno
  19. Is that the ex-John Marchant one? Good to hear one is preserved and hopefully being restored!
  20. Chris, Correct, see http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?21617 But the MRF tyres come (or used to come?) in two variants, so anyone planning to buy these make sure you get the right ones. Regards, Hanno
  21. See http://www.angelfire.com/nj/healing/Cyprusnewsphotos.html for a Champ in Cyrpus. It appears to be in Light Stone. Note the tyres with a road / sand tread.
  22. Thanks Rob, and good luck with the restoration! If you come across any other peculiarities, please post here and I'll try to help. And if you ever come across cab parts with Dutch stencilling, please let me know as I'd like to have one with the "price tag". Regards, Hanno
  23. Markus, Welcome! One of these? VW 1200 Standard version (w/o chrome and other embellishments) in Postgelb LF63 semi-gloss with black wheels and bumpers? Great Beetle, I love the Standard version! Regards Hanno from Holland
